Why GM didnt make this car will forever be a mystery

This is a discussion on Why GM didnt make this car will forever be a mystery within the Visual/Body Modifications forums, part of the W Body Tech category; I found this on cardomain, so all credit to nostransam. I feel like this is what the GTO should have ...

nah id rather not see the GTO look like that. its a grand prix, it would be cool if they made the 04+ in a coupe but the GTO looks better then this

Alas, the GTO was the reason we never got a two door 04+. GM was afraid the GTP and eventual GXP would take sales away from the GTO.

Now...put a G8 pic next to it. 4 doors and still cooler.

ehh idk, GM still would have ****ed a "retro" gto up imo...it took them awhile to come up with what the 5th gen Camaro should look like....

A "retro" would have still been a failure

If someone made a real 2 door 04+ that would be sweet.

Wait a second, 07 Monte Carlo SS, 2 door, LS4. I keep forgetting about that one.

I know three people with gtos. All have the seats falling apart around the seams and door handle paint is chipping. 2 had lifter issues ls1 and ls2. I still love these cats tho but I'll never own one. I'll take a 4th gen ss.
