Default What CV Axles to use

I am going to be replacing my cv axles pretty soon here to try and cure a vibration in my car. All the reviews i have read for the cv axles say they break within a couple months because the boots rip off. Has anyone had good luck with anything? I dont want to go back to the dealer to get one.

    How long of a warranty?

I always bought used GM axles as they seem to hold up the best for me. Never had an issue.

Whatever you do don't buy the GSP ones from Advance...literally went through so many of them this year that they told me they can't honor the lifetime warranty anymore. I just put in a WBody Store axle last month and it is holding up well so far

Second that GSP comment. I think my latest vibrations are again from GSP's.

I replaced both front on my GTP from ROCKAUTO. They were China made, but are still tight and smooth after 30,000 miles.
BUt, I do not drive it hard, or go to the race track, just a DD.

I would be VERY CAREFUL running any axles made in china. They've been known to have issues with the snap ring groove being machined too deep, making it virtually impossible to remove the DS axle without first removing the output shaft!!!

Stick with OEM used from Morad

Fantastic... lol, when my passenger side Axle started throwing grease I picked one up as a just in case kinda thing. Still sitting there unopened, I think I'll return it tomorrow, lol.

    Thanks for the heads-up!

The Ricer crowd seems to think highly of EMPI axles, and they are ISO 9001 compliant, and they do look like High Quality, not that Mystery Metal mottled Chinese appearance. And the boots look and feel like top grade as well.

I'm pretty certain they don't make half shafts for us.

Rockauto lists EMPI axles for my 02. I have not seen them until recently so maybe they just started making them?

Yup, I've got a pair from RockAuto sitting in the 3rd service bay (The Den), the reviews from around the web sold me on taking the chance. My current ones are showing a bit of play, and that may be causing a slight vibe at 85-90, I'll do review when I get around to the install....I've got an 01 silvermist, with the hood things and roof rails, it looks like your car except your wheels are way nicer than the Eagle Alloy 5 spokes that came with mine...
