    Default W-body engine/tranny/cradle swap

I've been searching a lot for an answer to this but can't find an answer. My tranny went out on my 97 GP SE and the 3800 in it isn't very far from going out either...I have have access to a really good deal on a 2001 Buick Regal with a 3800. My question is, if I dropped the cradles out with the entire drive train assembly including all the steering and suspention components, will the one out of the Regal just bolt into the grand prix and pretty much plug and play? I imagine the regal's PCM to have to be swapped to the GP too? Any info on this would be appreciated! thanks!

ok I just wanted to make sure, I didn't know if they changed the mounting points on the cradle a little bit so it wouldn't line up...the upper mounts should swap over too i imagine, but again thats why I was asking in case it's a little different.

dont know if the regal pcm will work with the GP you may need to tune your pcm and use all of your original wire harness but add to it/ change some plugs over like the injector plugs.

Only thing I'd say here is ...

Use your car's original wiring harness and pcm. Subframes are interchangeable. My Regal is wearing a Monte aluminum subframe and the GP also can use that same subframe.

Engine, trans, axles.. it's all the same under there. The Regal rack may be a little loose feeling compared to the GP. But..it'll work.
