you need the steering wheel, the controls, and new clock spring, and then check to see if the radio supports wheel controls, and the wire from radio to the clock spring, and wires from the clock spring to the radio controls.
gut up a car at a junk yard would be my best guess to get everything.

So clock spring.. how to remove one?? I know cars at the JY have controls, so should be an issue getting it.. plus i can practice getting the bag off... my stereo is a pioneer big giant unit, it supporst anything.. hence the purchase of a PAC SWI-PS![]()
you need to pull the air bag, then un hook all the wires from the clock spring to the air bag (air bag plug on my car pulled straight up and out) and radio controls, the take the wheel off, i used a small 2 gear puller in the regal, look into yours, (you may need to use the flat 3 bolt puller type, like for the harmonic balancer) once the wheel is off, there is a snap ring holding the clock spring on the shaft.
you need to remove the plastic from under the wheel to the foot area, then the steel knee bolster, un hook the clock spring wires from the harness clips along the column, un plug it from the car by the obd2 port.
un hook your battery before you do any thing regarding a yellow plug. those are air bag plugs. you dont want to eat one of them.....boom.

oh yeah i know that! great part about JY.. most air bags are blown, and no batts. lol

well, in truth, i was referring to your car lol
i throw that out there always, some just dont know. its one avoidable accident for sure. who knows if it will blow off or not.....why take the chance?
laugh if you want, but every time i take the bag off, the first time i start the car up i do it from the pass side.

Easiest thing to do would be swap a column. In your year, the info from teh controls might go through the DIM (dash integration module) etc. Which is why I didn't pipe in...because I still owe you some other info that I haven't had time to look up yet.
If Dave feels 60% throttle is 100%, what does he tell his wife.
this is a 04 clock spring, it does look a bit different from a 97-03 plugs are different for sure.

Some of those steps for changing the clock spring seem CRAZY complicated.. changing whole column might be easier lol
all that mumbo jumbo talk is how to center the clock spring, the rest is just like i said pretty much.
dont sweat it. i see no need to change the column.
if you get your clock spring at the junk yard make sure the wheels are straight if at all possible then take the clock spring out. if not you need to center it. its not hard, i did it to mine.
the simple way to explain it is.
theres a button on it, push it in the center will now spin, slowly turn it one way till it stops. now count how many full turns it takes to get to the other side. mine was 7 iirc. turned it back 3 1/2 turns, done. put it on the shaft. be genital with it, and try to force it any further then it wants to go or you will break it.

i think ill start by playing at the JY one day soon, I also got a buddy who works at a JY, so if i can get the whole thing for cheap cheap might save effort LOL

So your saying if it ISNT straight when i take it out i can center it myself by doing what you said about the revolutions?
But if i can get it outta the car centered, i just need to pop it into mine and im good to go?

most JY cars have no keys and the wheels are locked, makes things tough sometimes.
i was kinda surprised mine even worked. it was rolling around in my trunk for months till i broke it all apart to use parts off it.
so i swapped the bag and wheel, first time it was off.
then did the clock spring #2
then did the directional multi switch #3

When you get the new clock spring don't spin the inner piece around inside it. You will need a clock spring that has the radio controls as an option. Disconnect battery, pull airbag, remove plastic housing around steering column, remove knee bolster. Follow the wires and swap out. I believe there is an additional wire to hookup for the wheel controls.
Also don't grab one with a deployed airbag if you want yours going off in a wreck.
