Tire Rotation by Idiots!

I changed the oil in my car the other day. It was the coldest day of the winter so far. I didn't get a chance to do a tire rotation because my Dad had the shop tied up with other things. I needed to get it done before I leave for vacation on Friday. My regular tire shop was closed today. I was in a pinch. Against my better judgment, I went to Safeway Lube in Wapakoneta, Ohio. As soon as I pulled in, I told the guy I wanted a tire rotation. He had me move to another bay. Upon getting in there, he asks what all I wanted. I said just a tire rotation. He comes back in a minute and says that the guy already drained a few quarts of oil out of the engine. He'll change the oil at a discount since he already started. I told him, no he won't! He argues that I should have it done. Really angry at this point I told him to just top it off with new oil. Luckily they had the oil I used. Mobil 1 0w30. They begrudgingly rotate my tires, charge me $20 for it and I drive away very unhappy. They didn't ask me about tire pressure or show me the dipstick level either.

Lesson learned, my regular tire guy would have done it for $6.

Good thing I have an auto shop at school to do that. But that is stupid he shouldn't have charged you at all, or at least given you a discount.

Mobil 1 had had it for years. They have 0w30,0w20,0w40 They call it "advanced fuel economy" formula.

yeah same here, I love giving both my car and truck a 4 wheel alignment cause it usually cost 70 bucks or so at regular shops. Only if more people knew about us, cause we do all work for free u just supplie the parts.

Yeah I know and we are good at it (some are retarded and there for the credit to graduate) but we also get a 40% discount when ordering the car parts through the school making them RIDICULOUSLY cheap.

I used to work at Firestone. When people came in for alignments, they'd put the car on the rack, and "bump" the heads to make the specs show good. One of the many things that made me quit, and be glad that I don't ever have to take my car there!!!

Me being a female...I get the whole o ya we gotta do this and that to your car! So I just try not to take it anywhere and if I do I stand in the shop and watch them!

Yeah, the service manager guys loved elderly the most though. They'd look at the cars history, and look at what had not been done yet, then say it would need to be done. I would get so pissed off, because they'd sell them things like struts and stuff they didn't even need, that I never reccomended. Their excuse was that, because I was flat rate, and not hourly, that they were helping my paycheck.

Ya...well one time I went in to get my oil changed it was cold and im a poon! lol Anyways! I was messin around with the guy and said O ya the car is pullin really bad...could my right tire be on my left side? and he looked at me for a min...and said Ya I can check that for ya but its going to charger! I busted out laughing and said Ya and while your at it change the blinker fluid and he kinda laughed I dunno if he thought my joke wasent that funny or if he felt dumb cause I caught him tryin to get more money from me!

A lot of the shops here in town will move directional tires to the opposite side of the vehicle... so they go the wrong direction. Rocket science!!!!!

This is the reason I do all the work my self on my car. I would have lost it on the guy.

I had a g35 come into the shop I used to work at with every directional tire facing backwards.

Well DUH, you get better traction in reverse!!!!

WOW! that went right over my head!!!!!

I've seen cars with 2 directionals on, and 1 facing the wrong way. Or, 1 tire the wrong size. So many wtf moments and I've only been in the business for 2 years

I like how when they have a left rim on the right side, and vice versa.

Atleast they didnt tighten the lugs down enough to snap the wheel studs.

60 mph, 2nd gear, 4700 rpms, rwd 4**hp v8, and your left rear wheel falls the **** off. That brings out the best anger.

Or in our case, not tighten them down at all, and 30 mins later, a call from someone that was on the interstate, NOT happy!!! 2006 explorer (it was a rental though, HA!)
