    Default Throttle blip

Just wondering if any1 can help me diagnose this problem. When Im going down the highway w/ the rpm's running about 2k the throttle will blip up and down w/ me holding the gas steady. My exhuast has a deep bellow at low rpm's and its just barely enough to get a deep in and out sound. Sorry im a mess w/ this new car but trying my best to get everything worked out. Thanks

Also its throwing code that says running lean on bank 1. 02 sensor or another vaccume leak? Possibly a reason for my problem?

Are you shifting in and out of overdrive?
Maybe check the vac line on your fuel pressure regulator, doubtful that'd be it but ya never know. I'd check the vacuum tree at the throttle body too.

I dont think so. Its too fast to be shifting. And i have to put my foot down farther to hit 3rd. I just fixed one vaccume leak but the lines need replacing.

The rpm needle looks like its ticking. Not much change at all just enough to hear it and feel a little bit.

Pull the vac line off the fuel pressure regulator and see if there's gas in it, I doubt there is but it won't hurt anything.

I had the too lean code when I had a ram air tube in my grill going to the end of my cone on my intake, took the hose out and it never came back, was getting too much air.

I wouldn't be surprised if you have a vac leak, I had 3 when I bought my Gtp. let the engine run and feel around all your vacuum couplings, especially that tree by the throttle body, all of my t's and trees were pretty bad when I got my car.

Might be your TPS too, but as far as diagnosing that for sure I have no clue...

Hopefully one or two of the more experienced guys will chime in and give you a better estimation of what the culprit is, but I'd definetely be checking all of your vac lines since you said you just got the car... All of those rubber/plastic couplings get brittle and leak very easily, and they are definetely overlooked by a lot of ppl as general maintenance on these vehicles.

My problem sounds alot like the problem the guy in the "chugging" thread is having. But it still runs really good WOT. Just when i barley have my foot on the gas letting some torque take me up a slight hill or something. I have a good exhaust leak coming from the back of the header and some kind of scraping ( not metal but like a belt) noise when i first turn the car on when its cold. It just doesnt seem to be coming from the belts. I dont know i just feel like i got put in a bad situation. Dont get me wrong i love the car but i used every xtra cent i have to buy it for a DD. I thought it was pretty much stock w/ headers exhaust but it has a 3.0 pulley and who the hell knows what else. I read in the other thread that resetting their pcm worked. I googled that and someone said i could tap the gas pedal 3 times in the on position. Just tried that and the dash didnt blink like it was supposed to.

First things first, put a stock pulley and belt on it. You're going to chip a piston if the car isn't set up the right way.

I'd be blowing the last owners phone up to figure out exactly what's done to it.

Hell you might be lucky and there may be a vs or xp cam in there :0

The vs cam acts a lot like stock and there would be more subtle differences than a NIC or something with more lift, and you wouldn't hardly be able to tell, especially if it's set up right with headers and all.

Biggest question to the last owner would be how many miles he/she put on it with that 3.0 pulley on it...

Good luck man, and I'm tellin ya, put a bigger pulley on it, better safe than sorry, your DD may end up dead and costin a helluva lot more money than a pulley and belt will...

You can sometimes reset the PCM by unplugging your battery and letting it sit for 10 15 mins then putting your cables back on... I know it completely wipes my DIC to zeros when I do it.

The last owner didnt know anything about it.He told me it was stock w/ headers exhuast. It does sound like it might have a mild cam. I think i might just take off the sc belt till i can afford a scan gauge and a intercooler

or just put the stock pulley back on.

Because even if you take the belt off, the car is still going to want to dump fuel when you get far enough into the gas and now the air that used to be there with the help of the blower wont be and thats just as bad.

I didnt get any parts w/ the car. I am having to dip into my bill money just to send off the title and get a tag. 10 day run out yesterday. Do you think someone would put a small pulley on it like that w/o doing engine mods to compensate? Would it be alright if i drive in like a grandma till i can get paid and stick a 3.8 on it. 3.8 is stock right?

Just don't beat on it at all. 3.8 is stock. I'm assuming you have a modular pulley system? Take a pic of the pulley.

Take a pic with camera over the fuse relay, so we can see the bolts holding the pulley on.

It ran like ass today. Instead of just little blips the rpm's were just falling off when it got to 2k. The had to put foot down to get them back up then doing it again. Very frustration when I've spent about 3 1/2 hrs on the road today. Im going to try my best to fix the vac leak if it has one and check MAF. From the picture is the intake stock? It has a K&N air filter i think. The guy i bought it from said it had a aftermarket CAI but it looks stock to me but i know K&Ns do sometimes. Im thinking I might unload my old supra because I would like to take it to someone out of town w/ knowledge about the motor to fix it and dyno tune. I have a kid and no money so my supra isnt doing me any good right not. Just wanted to do the TT swap on it but truthfully there not that good handleing and there heavy as crap. Liked my rx7 much better. Im sure i can find something down the road that I'll be happier with.

Looks like you may have a k&n box on there with the stock duct hooked up to it.

    http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._7744161_n.jpg

That's an 04 or newer with a k&n sticker slapped on it, if yours is stock it'll look just about the same. If you have clips on it to take it apart, open em up and see if you have a regulo rectangle air filter jammed in there.

Good luck man, I feel ya on the cash flo shortage. My fiancée is 6 months prego so we are puttin money away like crazy... No more "make it go faster" mods in my future...
