    John, Very informative , John. I suggest you and any others consider buying a hydraulic press from H Frt. The little 12 ton goes on sale several times a year and does not take up a lot of room. Many of the tasks which are hammered ( desperation, I know) can be better done with a press and you will find other uses for it like metal forming, and I have used mine for a sanity check on coil spring rating of ebay springs (returned Speed Daddy springs only 1/3 their advertised rating.) The last ad I saw was $99 for a small press (memory?).

    I do actually have a 12 ton a frame press from there. I originally bought it to press AK47 jigs to make my own receivers. It's just the way that the knuckles are shaped it would be really awkward/unstable to press them out. I was also afraid of bending the castings
