    Default taking out the resonator

I was thinking of taking the resonator out and replacing it with a straight exhaust pipe. Has anyone done this? I also thought about gutting the cat and adding the spark plug spacer to help tho o2 from reading wrong. Has anyone done this also?

    Thank you,

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe it is known as a "U-Bend Delete." my buddy has it done on his '03 GTP and makes a big difference! And from what I see alot of people have it done.

I just deleted the cat and ubend with a 3" dp. Left the rest stock. I love how it sounds now.

Newer gen GP's don't have U-bends in their downpipes. Imo leave the resonator, exhaust on gp's sounds like s*** without it.

you need something to muffle your exhaust or it will be raspy. i replaced my resonator with a glasspack, but now it is starting to wear out and my exhaust keeps getting louder.

I have an 05 and yeah it does not have the U bend in it. Has someone spaced their 02 sensor and gutted the Cat?

if your gonna put a starit metal pipe in its place, then yea. if you get a bolt on dp then no. they also have shorie dp's that you also have to weld into place.

I just ordered zzp powerlog and ported em. I also have their ceramic coated crossover. because my 04 gtp does not have a u-bend, do I need the 3" down pipe? Will a 3" dp bolt to the ported exhaust manifold?

yes you still need a downpipe. and i would figure so that it would bolt in place.

Ok so everyone has their opinion. I dont want to spend the money on the cat and my flex pipe has officially broke and you want to talk about raspy. Deal with an Exhaust leak at the manifold on a supercharged car. I can lower enough in the seat. EMBARRASING!!!!!

Has anyone taken their CAT out and spaced the O2 sensor?

why not just get a new downpipe?? better performance and it will fix your leak. there is used ones floating around.

I had deleted my res and put on some dynomax (cheap that the time for my then broke a$$) and I am now back to stock muffs with a thrush. These are V8s and IMO won't sound good until you add a cam.
