Subframe Bushings

Anybody change their subframe bushings? I need to do mine (all four corners) but i've been hearing that the fwd bushings are hell to get out. B4 I get stuck under there, is there any easy way to do this? Suggestions? I have a 2 car garage so thats the space I have....

when i had my trans swapped, we dropped the sub frame, the bushing kinda come right out, well pretty much fell out when i was flipping it around to change the lca's.

where did you get those bushings?

Probably call up the dealership give them your car and make they will look it up. Sometimes dealership is only availability.

Tell them you have an 05 comp g.

Stiffer and cheaper bushings.

Fell right out, damn.... how did the rear bushings/mounts look? Just as bad or what?

Yeah, RockAuto came thru with the bushings...

They didn't make an 05 comp g did they?

Yes they did both in 04/05

they looked ok, bill seen em, and said nothing so i guess they were ok, its up there and its tight, and dont move, what more could i ask for lol

LOL, not much more huh......u think the damage to the fwd bushings was caused by the fearless EastCoast weather or the daily driving of that beasty S/C 3800?

i couldn't say really, i got over 224,000 now and id bet money mine are factory still.

and my cars been in NJ its whole life. not more then 30 miles from me the whole time, 8 owners, all local so far lol

In addition to the bushings, it looks like you are putting on a new oil pan? I am also going to attempt this along with the bushings. Does anyone have a write up on how to do this? The Haynes manual leaves a lot to desire and this seems like a very involved undertaking. Were the body bushings noisy? How about the LCA bushings-also noisy? Thanks, I'm glad I found this site!

Another question-I am looking at Rock Auto but not seeing a "subframe bushing". Is there a different name for it? I am looking to quiet my6 beast down.

Im not sure what car u have, but it should be under subframe bushings...
There is a thread on here with exact instructions, at the beginning of this thread i believe......
If u gonna change the subframe mounts, then u minds well do the LCA too...it'll be easier just to buy a new LCA already assemble, dont cost that much at all....
To see if the LCA are bad, lift the car up and jiggle wheel, should be stiff...any movement may mean u need LCAs or tie rods...etc.

Damn, 224k miles...**** if yours are fine i know mines should be good(the rear ones anyway)

Ive changed the strut mounts,struts,LCAs,all motor mounts,etc... but im still getting a lil popping sound whenever i pull from a dead stop....So, these fwd subframe mounts is my last issue that could be causing this popping sound....

Until the bushings are old, cracked, and the washers are rusting apart.. I won't usually comment on them.

Scott..they didn't look bad for 224K

Bushing are easy to swap out. Lower the sub enough to get them out, put new in. Bolt back together. Best suggestion is to have 4 jackstands on hand. Two for the body of the car and then two along with the jack that you are lowering the subframe with. That way you aren't relying only on that jack while you are underneath. Safety first!

I've got a 2004 Grand Prix GT, 168k and it is very noisy over bumps. I have put new struts on it but they just firmed up the ride and didn't change the rumbles and clunks. Will be changing the sway bar links today. I ordered ACDelco LCA's from Amazon and they shipped me four left hand ones(apparently shipping out of Mexico is not working out)or I would have had that done, also. The LCA bushings squeak when you pry them with a scredriver. Also, if you don't mind, what goes wrong with the motor mounts and how do you check them?
