Default stock deck vs aftermarket replacement advice

My current stock deck in my 99 GP GTP is bad and will need replacing and I am looking for a replacement and am wondering which direction to go whether to get a stock replacement or an after market unit. I hope to get some good input and possibly some advice on where to get the best deal as I see these decks on ebay rebuilt but for the money the 90 day warranty just seems not to be the best deal. Thanks all in advance for any input

You will get a lot more features with an aftermarket deck. The best deals on head units will be found on the web. I.E. Car Audio Stereo - Car Subwoofers - Car Amplifiers and Speakers , Amazon, Ebay, Crutchfield. I'd suggest going to a store that has HU's on display, find the one you like and check online for a better price.

03 GTP...Its got pulleys and stuff.

Ok thanks guys. I have had good luck with a few different brands such as Alpine, Sony, Infinity, but have been out of the loop for awhile. Does anyone have any good suggestions? I always thought the stock audio sounded decent on these and don't want to under power speakers and if anything look to improve.

I'd just find retail price of some name brand units and then find the unit with the greatest savings on eBay... That's what I just did. You can pretty much gauge the quality but the retail price with head units.

I found one of these for $100. It's an older model but top of the line when it came out in 07-08. Also got the steering wheel cpntrol interface, antenna adapter, wire harness and mounting kit all for ~ $50 via eBay. Not bad for $150 if ya ask me.

Invest in a humount too. Grand Prix 1992-2003 - $65.00 : Humount, Quality Mounting Brackets

This is what mine looks like and I installed a dimmer switch for it too and absolutly love it!

    HuMount FTW.

I went with the JVC KD-A815 as it had front and rear USB. I wanted this so my iPhone cradle would always be plugged in. Sounds way better than stock too.

ok I know this might sound crazy, but I have an 07 GT and I like my HU. I don't like the amp or 6x9. I Was thinking get rid of the 6x9 jack the hi level input off of the stock amp from those 6x9 run it two a 2ch amp and to a aftermarket set of 6x9. And maybe patch the signal to another amp for a sub. The only real problem I can forsee is maybe some feedback if I don't jack the signal before the amp, straight from the Hu. Any ideas?
