so if my car shuts off at wot from 1-2, should i enable tq mgmt?

Just curious, what version software are you using? 2.22 or Beta 2.23?

    Thanks!

Torque managment will pull power during a shift which a stock trans needs, with this turned off you are pushing more power through a trans that doesnt want it and causing the shift to take longer.* Im concerned with my new built trans because as it may seem okay now, I'm guessing the sloppy 1-2 shift problem will appear again down the road

I tried to obtain a general consensious of how to set up my 03 regal trans tables on the hpt forum but no bites as of yet

Torque managment does no such thing. It is a preventative measure designed to protect weak drivetrain components. GM wasn't stupid, just cheap. On another note each and every rebuilt performance tranny I've ever installed required fine tuning to achieve desired results, no patter what. No two transmissions will respond exactly the same to a particular tune.

It does not cause the gear change to take longer- When you exceed the amount of power the clutch frictions/steels and band/drum assembly can hold, you get slip. This has nothing to do with TQ MGT causing the shift to delay. No different than trying to hook a high whp car on radials vs. slicks.

Well should I enable tm now on my new build to avoid having the sloppy shifts later on down the road from having it disabled? I talked to mr Norris that's what he recommended you more than welcome to check my tune. I use beta

No, I'd not re-enable Tq Managment, as again, it's based on a set of default values for a stock powertrain. I'd adjust apply rates and line pressure via EPC to find a happy medium between driveability, shift firmness, and parts durability. Seat of the pants, real street tuning here cannot replaced by a mail order or dyno tune. If you take nothing else away from this, remember, EVERY combo is different.

I just got my HPT software and have been following this thread and everything is good so far. The problem I am having is the factor to multiply by when running rich. I am using an AEM WB and needing to lean out for my WOT runs. If I multiply by the -1.02 as stated, it puts all the cells to zero. If I do the 1.02 it increases it as it should.

Should I actually multiply by .98 to get a small decrease in fueling.

What do you think about Russ K's MAF tuning method?

Seems to be much more effective than using fuel trims to adjust fueling.

    Open loop scares me.

And IMO not worth my time.

I was nervous about tuning, open loop is about as easy as it gets. There is a great write up Russ k on hpt forums for open loop maf tuning. It takes half a day if that to get dialed in. Once your done you plug the narrowband back in and your good to go, you can fine tune your fuel trims after if you want but if you did the open loop right, kinda hard not to, they should be pretty close already.

Open Loops pretty simple really. Just a few more additional steps.
