I have had a number of people message me over the past few years, and even months on installing a shift kit. I use Transgo kits in all of my transmissions but this will apply to all 4T65E so-called shift kits that people buy or make themselves. I dont know what the DIY parts are nor have I ever used the shims recommened so DONT use this as an exact parts list as it is just what comes in the Transgo SK4T65E kit, rather I am posting the pics to aid in the assembly so you know that everything is assembled properly. Pic#1 Bare Accumulator housing with equal length shims on pins Pic#2 Accumulator housing with STOCK large springs Pic#3 Accumulator housing with Transgo Shift Kit springs Pic#4 Accumulator pistons with new seals, Make SURE to inspect old seals for damage! Also check gasket plate!! Pic#5 Accumulator pistons installed in housing. Note LARGEST spring on pistons ALWAYS goes on 2-3 side!!! The Transgo kit includes a short spacer for the 2-3 side ONLY which goes above the piston, other kits may include two Pic#6 Complete Accumulator assembly with pipes and forward band apply servo assembly Pic#7 Bimetal spring proper installation, Make sure it IS installed this way! Pic#8 O-ring in transmission case to seal against Forward apply servo housing, MUST be here so please check!!! Pic#9 Proper Accumulator assembly installation. Make sure you torque all of the bolts!!! All small 8mm head bolts here get torqued to 8 ft lbs and the larger 10mm head bolts on the forward servo housing get 18 ft lbs Pic#10 Inspect the filter seal in the transmission case. If the filter fits loose then replace this seal, it should have came with a new filter if you are replacing it. Pic#11 Here you go, the completed setup ready for the pan to be installed. MAKE SURE THE LUBE PIPE IS INSTALLED!!! This is the single tube that points straight up into the trans. Make sure the pipe is up all the way and the metal clip is pushed up all the way!! If this tube falls off it means no geartrain lube through the whole trans! The OE gasket is reusable as long as it is in good condition. I NEVER recommend using a cork gasket here, and especially NO sealants! These pans are not stamped to be used with a cork gasket and often leak, use the stock one or get a new one. I hope this helps out those doing there own installs. Again I dont know what the vendors spacer setup constists of because I dont use them, but this will give you a good idea of how everything goes back together and where the small parts go. |
