Steps

It reall wasn't too hard at all. I did some reading around about how to do this and I found 6 different ways to do this.

1) Have a body shop do it fo a crazy amount of $.
2) Buy/Rent the $300 or so tool that bolts to the hub to do it the "Right" way.
3) The baseball bat/pipe method.
4) Heat gun and rubber mallet.
5) Hack saw, heat gun and rubber mallet method by TommyGloves.
6) Channel locks and a shop towell. <~~~~F that way

I chose # 4 to do mine by myself. I kept reading that reguardless the method you use the paint is going to crack it's just a question of how much.

I used the heat gun to heat/warm/soften the paint about 6" at a time and then worked the lip up with the mallet hitting a lot of times not with a lot of force. I am pleased with the results and would recommend this method to a friend. The paint did crack but it didn't split so it can be fixed with touch-up paint. The fender is still round and does not look like it was hit with a hammer 100 times.
