Replacement suspension

My parents have a 94 Grand Prix GT with 120k miles and it needs new shocks and struts. I looked at Rock Auto and for some of the replacements they list a heavy duty or standard suspension. I'm guessing since it's a GT it would have a sport suspension. When I look up shock absorbers they have Sachs listed which is what I want to purchase since they're better than anything else they sell for the car.
My question is this. The springs could probably stand to be replaced so I'm considering the Monroe shocks with springs and bearings and mounting plates and then I could just throw the new parts right on the car with no transfer of old parts. Are the Monroe's crap or will they be suitable on a car my mother drives about 100 miles a week.

She'll be fine. I used them on my 96 gp for a few years without complaint.

Just stay away from Gabriel.

Thanks for your help. One more thing. Are the factory rear shock lower mouting bolts accentrics so the camber can be corrected?

Going from memory, i don't think so. But I could be wrong. I'll try to find you a better answer.

I just replaced all four of my spring/struts/mounts with the monroe quick struts. They were cheapest on amazon because of the free shipping. The boxes they ship them in are huge. Installation was a breeze, there is a very well detailed posting on how to change struts on here. The job was significantly easier since the quickstruts come already put together so you just have to unbolt 5 bolts and put the new strut assembly in. Impact wrench and driver make it even easier. I have no complaints with the ride. Also monroe was offering $125 rebate this month if you buy all four. So it cost about $400 in parts. Good Luck

Not bad, I just replaced the front cartridge units when I did mine. The rears were easy with the monoleaf.

Heres a quick link I found while researching, Rear Suspension Issue - Camber Hope this helps, its been too long since I worked on the 96. When you get the old strut off, you'll be able to see roughly where the original strut rested. Install the new strut so that you line up with the dirt/corrosion marks, then drive to your favorite alignment shop and have a 4-wheel alignment performed.
