Could you fit the 5.3 into a 97-03?
LS1's fit, so a 5.3 would probably fit.

Sweet jesus.... it does exist..... How much work do you think it takes to get that kind of job done? Not talking an LS1, but a 5.3?
Holy sheet so now how hard is it to convert the grand prix to rear wheel lol

I was just wondering if you could put the 5.3 in since it can fit in the body of the 04+. Not a freaking LS1 lol. Leave the LS1 to the Trans Ams.
I think it would be easier and a whooole lot cheaper if you did a body swap I have seen a older style Lumina body fabricated to a Trans am Frame I am sure you could get a door GT on the frame of a TA and if you went that way you know it will run like a raped ape! hmmm got a TA in the Garage Maybe I should give this a try lol
well for the most part it should just drop in. the tranny is the same, 3 things i can think of that would be a possible problem is hood clearance, ECM/TCM mounting, and if there is enough space to clear the flywheel.
So you could just keep the same tranny in? Even with an extra 100 hp being added to it? Doesnt seem right. But im sure I could make it fit.
This question was just really bugging me though, kept wondering and wondering if you could do it without having to do some year long job.
LS4 have a 4T65E-HD trans backing them up in all applications.
you could drop the subframe of the GXP and put it in a 97-03 body very easily.
the 05s subframes bolt right up to 97s+ so the LS4 will bolt right in with the appropiate subframe, the motor sits farther back towards the firewall.
the hard thing would be to splice the harnesses so everything gets along nicely.
i know this because a guy is attempting this a couple of blocks away from me![]()

its a waste of money. that v8 is junk.
What would i ever do without Bio harassing my every move![]()
That V8 is junk.
I'd snail a L36/26/32/67 tons before I'd even ATTEMPT to put a V8 in there. The only thing you'd have going for you is a better exhaust note.
