Default it was a professional hit!

    jk.

I was on my way to work from Billy's house(FastKatt), by the way thanks for redoing my spark tables!!!!

I was coming across a bridge, there is a stop light up ahead that JUST turned green. in the left lane there were 2 cars still stopped at the light. I was gradually passing an 04 Hynudai Sante Fe. I was now 15ft away from the bridge coming up to the light. the guy in the Sante Fe doesnt gradually come over, he races over into my lane. I see out of the corner of my eye..my drivers side mirror just decintigrate, metal twisting sound, then tires squeels a lil huff of smoke, then my car hops the curb/snow bank to the right all while this guy is pushing me out of my lane. I am now full on the horn, and applying the brakes.

after all the metal crunching sounds...you would think the guy would have known he just hit a car. nope, it wasnt until I hit the horn...that he realized..he messed up. no he didnt even use his turn signal.

he pulls off into the closest parking lot, and I follow. He gets out of his car and literally falls down. I'm thinking to myself its 3:15in the afternoon and this guy is drunk? turns out it was just ice.... anyways, he starts to appologize ths and that, he was just rearended yesterday and should have been paying more attention yada yada yada. I am calm....I am more in shock than anything. He looks over hsi car and mine, and says that his car looks worse., I'm thinking no way. I finally get out of my car and look at it.

my drivers mirror housing looks like it exploded, only half of it is there and is broken in the up position, with the motor dangling down still attached to the wires...no mirror. the front bumper has rubber scuff/pant scrapes from his tires hitting it, LF fender is bashed in with scrapes on top of the wheel, my LF wheel has scuff/burn mark on the sidewall from his wheels/tires...then the drivers door is dented/scraped to heck, and goes allllll the way back the the rear quarter panel Thankfully he didnt get my new corner lenses.

I walk arond side of the car to the passenger.....I have a BIG crease in the rear quarter from where I mainly hit the snow/ice bank. and I have a paint chip on the lower rocker panel.....I got to looking at it..my RF wheel is now angled in. think my camber is now messed up., and my RF portion of the bmper looks pushed up a bit. I had put new foglamps in...and now my RF is blown..

I call my work telling them I will be a lil late, while this guy call s the local PD. I went over to see his suv. man oh man. his car wil need 2 new doors, they crumbles in like they were made of tin-foil. my mirror went from his front fender all the way down the drivers door, poking through it a bit, and proceeded down the rear door to the rear quarter..dep groves of green paint. his doors had a nice ripple effect to them now...his car WAS worse than mine..cosmeticly.

20min later a squad shows up. the guy explains what happened....they write him a ticket for improper lane change. he appologizes to me again...we go our seperate ways.

I get in my car and drive off, car is pulling slightly to the right, and about 30sec down the road..my ABS light flips on, as well as Trac light. I am also notcieing a slight grind in the LF.....hub assembly..

I wasnt really that mad, it is my daily driver/winter beater...its not one of my nice cars......

the more I think about it, the more I want to:

I was looking forward to driving the car down to the local GP meet, gues I cant do that now.

I am going to get all the salt of the car, and take some pics. FastKatt has some on his phone...

basicly I have to get the entire car resprayed since I have damage on both sides...

at least they wrote a ticket, I see too often they don't. I think if you have a crash because of lack of attention, then you should have your license revoked (as in you now walk everywhere) there are too many people driving who should barely be allowed in public alone let alone behind the wheel of a vehicle

those pics dont show the HUGE crease down the entire side of the car, or how deep the scratchs are. I pick up the full report today, and file a claim. I am HOPING they dont total it out as it will take (I am thinking), a little more than 2G to fix it all. I have roughly 3400 in it including the initial purchase of the car.

isnt there like a 50% thing? if the cost of repair exceeds 50% they declare it a total loss?

i think that depends on the insurance company that is covering the repairs.

Yea my ins company goes 75% or more totaled. I wiped our old suv about 2 months ago ( note i said old lol) and it was $400 away from being totaled and they fixed it! $5,800 worth of damage. lol took that straight from the body shop to the dealer and bought the wife a new mountaineer.

well, I got some quotes.... cheapest one was 2800, and the most expensive was 3500.00.
It hadnt even been reported to the company yet...all the paperwork was sitting at the guys broker. they fed me a line that the stff will go out today and I should get a call early this next week.

soooo......I dont know wat they will do. I would like to keep the car going......its just all cosmetic.....
