Poked hole in sub while installing it, what should i do???

hey guys i ordered new subs on amazon and recieved them today after a week. excited to get them in i went right to work. got the first one in no problem what so ever. second one in i had 3 screws left drill slipped and i poked a hole straight into it. what should i do? should i take it to an audio store and try and get it repaired? or i was also strongly considering poking a hole in the box it came in and sending it back to amazon demanding a replacement. what do you guys think?

Did they come with any type of warranty? If so send them back. If you are stuck with them see what an audio shop can do. I used to work at one 10yrs ago, things have changed, so they may can repair it. I've actually done the same thing but worse, I put some sealant (rubbery type) on it and keep on bangin.

You screwed it up so you want them to replace it? That's this generation in a nutshell I guess.

your screwed straight up if you dont have a warranty. They sound nasty with a whole. Best thing is rubber sealant or some ghetto as duck tape. Either way eventually the air is going to blow that whole back open again

I laugh because I did this with my first car. i just took it back and they replaced it.

Duct tape alone will not hold, use a good permanent rubber sealant. That hole is so small u should be OK, till u get a replacement.
If a car tire can be patched, I'm pretty sure that u can find something to help u out

patch the hole and call it a day. been there done that, beat the **** out of that sub and it kept kickin

I used clear finger nail polish when i did this to mine. Worked for years until i sold them.

I got a tear in the mid-range in my truck years back. I used some flexible silicone on both sides and it worked just fine.

Just put a dab of clear silicone on it, let it dry fully and forget it was even there. Stay away from rubber cements because some of them will eat up that foam.

silicone thats what i did i found a pair of 2006 12" pioneer premiers for $60 put some black silicone on there works good as new

i heard the chemicals in the silicon can eat away at the sub material but im not sure how true it is because it works fine for me and has been like that for a year

i love when this happens, patch it with something elastic so it can stretch as the sub v max's.

take the sub out... E6000 just a dab around the hole, then gorilla tape it.

Silicon it if you want a cheap fix, but once a hole is there, it will be weak there and eventually will tear more from use (at least from my experience). I have done the same and silicon'd it up but with hard use they ripped more over time.

If you want it done right you can call the manufacturer of the sub and explain what happened and they may warranty replace the sub for you, if not they can give you the info on the replacement excursion around the sub.
