Default oily substance on SC gasket, snout side

i have the garlock gasket from zzp, it has recently turned wet, and has a oily residue on it and the portion of the LIM it does not cover. it feels like oil , but has no smell. if it was SC oil i would definitely be able to smell that.

are there other areas that could leak this?

well i drained coolant to take off my TB spacer, then went to fill it back up after i was done, took off radiator cap and coolant burped out and was full to the top. i dont get that, why would coolant burp out when i drained some?

as for SC oil, like i said it is odorless, SC oil is horrible smelling even just a drop will stink out the room.

i kid you not, and i know this makes no sense at all, but after i did my coupler, i put it all back together, and the gasket under the snout where the bolt goes straight down broke off and fell into the abyss. i put it back together with out any gasket as i looked at the parts and said to myself, whys there a gasket here? it was leaking s/c fluid as soon as i started the car. i took the bolt out, coated the threads with rtv and stuck it back in, instant leak stop.

ive been told theres no reason for that bolt to leak, but it did.

so i think its worth looking at.

appreciate that, i just went and got, 5qts of mobil 1 and mobil1 filter, fram fuel filter, and a (FelPro) supercharger gasket. i will change all that and coat that bolt with RTV like you say and see if it fixes my problem.

not that the other stuff will "fix" my problem, just maintenance up keep.

have not had a chance to check for low SC oil, been raining out here all day.

Scott..only reason I can make for that leak is oil seeping up the bolt threads while in boost. From the PCV etc.

doing the gasket change today. checked SC oil, it is still full. so it has not leaked.

did fuel filter, very easy, other than getting gas all down my arm and side of my face(residual in lines and filter), bunch of black fuel came out the gas tank side of the filter. stained the ground with a small mound of dirt too lol.

so bill, being you think it is PCV leakage under boost, is that the cause of defective PCV? i have a new valve in the SC case and a breather on front valve cover.

if you want to see more crap, fill the fuel filter up with gas again, shake it up, then dump it again. even more dirt will come out.

No, I don't think it's defective. If you pull a charger, you almost always find oily residue in the LIM. Especially in an NA motor. It is dumped into the LIM and since it has recesses..it pools.

I think it's normal oil vapor that is being pushed up. At least that's my suggestion, because that gasket does absolutely nothing that I've ever found by being under the snout, except keeping the charger flat and level on the LIM.

okay, thanks scott and bill. i will take a few pics of the gasket change and leakage areas. and a few pics of the port job on my SC.

never got a chance to take pics, was in a hurry to get the car running again after it blew the rear head gasket(poor workmanship on engine reassembly by previous owner)
it broke down in my school parking lot at UTI thankfully. they my only time to work on it was a hour a day before class. it was up there for like 3 months, while i collected money and worked the heads at my machine shop, then reassembly.
