    Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forums here. I have tried searching the forums here for a write up on how to replace the oil pan on my GP GT. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You gotta drop the engine cradle or pull the engine for it

whats wrong with the pan you have now? is it rusted, rotted though, or dented? or just leaking from the gasket?

As far as I can tell from the last time I had it on a hoist, my mechanic said it was pretty rusted and rotting through. I imagine it's leaking from the gasket as well. I have to put about 2qts of oil in a month...I try to do everything I can myself and was wondering if it's a hard job. From what I've researched though I'm better off just paying someone to do it.

You can do it.. It's just a pain pre 04 as the big motor mount bracket is in the way. An 18mm ratcheting wrench makes pretty easy work of those bolts and you can likely do it by only lowering the subframe slightly for added clearance.

that bracket needs to come off all the way to get it off, then the 3 bolts that hold it on are in the most pita spots to even finger thread them in. the whole job kicked my ass but it got done. word of advice, start really early in the day on a saturday so you have a full weekend to sit back on. it shouldnt take a whole weekend, you should be done by saturday evening if you take your time

I did it at the shop... had to secure the motor with a cross bar, unbolt the mounts, unbolt the craddle, lower it ~3", and could unbolt the pan and slide it out... it IS a pain... but doable
