noise after head gaskets and lim

This is a discussion on noise after head gaskets and lim within the 3.1L V6 (LHO/LG8) forums, part of the Engine category; anyone have any idea what this noise is or what could be causing it? it started after i did head ...

    anyone have any idea what this noise is or what could be causing it? it started after i did head gaskets and lim gaskets. thanks

    All my speakers seem to be playing is a high pitched noise. Is that what you're referring to?

    yeah thats pretty much the noise. it doesnt sound like a vacuum leak to me but i cant really pinpoint where its coming from.

    It kinda does sound like a shifted gasket, but the engine is running pretty smooth from what I can tell. Break out the carb clean and spray around. If it's a vacuum leak, you'll find it.

    It does kinda sound like a vacuum leak though.

    ok i can try that but i dont think it does it until its warmed up. the car runs perfectly just has that squeal and do the rockers/lifters sound a little noisy? thanks again for the replies

    Those lifters always sound noisy after LIM gaskets.

    i have brake cleaner but not sure what brand it is. also it idles perfectly and if i pull off a vacuum line it idles like crap.

    No question about it, that IS a vacuum leak. Sounds like an F-16 sitting on the tarmak!

    See if pulling your oil cap off makes a difference. Try tightening the upper intake manifold with the car running and see if that helps. If those don't help pull the belt off and start it and see if it helps.

    It's a 3100...trust us..that's a vacuum leak. Check the stupid connections at the top of the TB. Those are super easy to have leak.

    (Did anyone else have the vid open and think to themselves. I see the problem...it's a 3100. then the vid played.)
