Default Newest gen STI highway roll

Just thought tonight's events were interesting, I'd never think that I could remotely hang with the newest STIs. He had at least a catback, sounded pretty mean.

Anyways after weaving through traffic and hitting a straight, I paced him and gave him the sign- we punched it at 60, he got a bit of a jump and he had 1.5 cars by 115. Not bad for my $1500 beater vs a new $40k car . I'm sure that had this been from a dig, I would've been murdered- but considering how weak the supercharged cars pull up top- pretty decent outcome. Kind of wish I had been in my LTweaksauce trans am though.

    My mods:

    ZZPSSM90
    3.4 pulley
    TOG headers/ full 3" exhaust
    ZZP tune
    HAI
    42.5lb injectors

So yeah, I rarely have a chance to race- in before kewl stories . Anyone else take on the newest STIs?

My brother has a 2006 STI. If I can get my car tuned in I'm going to give him a run. We live in different states though so I don't see him that often.

I have a stock 2000 GP GT and raced a new STI wagon on the free way. We went from about 80 to 107 and he had about 1.5 cars on me. Then we went again from 70 to 107 and it was the same result. He ended up giving me a thumbs up, so he seemed happy about the race. I was shocked that he didn't leave me much worse. I know if the race was longer it would have been worse, but i was expecting that turbo to pull hard. Good job in keeping up with him since your race was longer then mine.
Im planning on doing a top swap, xp cam, ported heads and all the other stuff to go with it within the next month so I'm expecting to woop up on an STI

My cousin has a 2011 STI. I raced him last summer from a dig, and he had me by about 3-4 cars by the time I hit 100. However, that was with my old 3.4/gen3/rockered setup. My car is a whole different animal now.. I can't wait to run him again!

in stock form they are an alright car, good power for most. once they go stage 2 (downpipe, intake, tune) and start pushing more boost then they quickly turn into very fast cars.

however, much beyond that they also come insanely deep money pits.

Yeah sorry for no vid, I haven't had a phone since Monday when my Galaxy S2 crapped out- either way the quality is **** at night.

I forgot to mention that I also have 1.9 rockers. I think if I had a cam I would've taken him, it could've very well been a Stg2. Stock the newest ones only have 305hp, I would imagine with my mods I could be even with a bone stock one on a highway roll.

Damnit now it makes me want to get an XP/NIC cam

i have a mild build on a wrx. will easily walk a gtp with your mods.. also the wrx/sti aren't built for top-end speed.. run from a dig. see the outcome then.

Still run up top worlds better than a heaton'd 3800...you'd know that from experience

With a cam I think that 1.5 car gap would easily close up on a roll.

But like I said, I'd be curious of the outcome in my Trans Am.

I had to have quite a bigger cam than an XP to realize some "top end" and even still I couldn't hang with 2300lb, 4G63 stroker Colts...LOL.

Ouch, turbo time! I wish GPs were as easy to do 3800 turbo builds on as Fieros
