Default Need help with radio install

Alright here is the deal I have been looking all over online trying to find out exactly what I need for a radio install I want to do. So here is the deal I have and 2007 Grad Prix and I want to do a double din radio install. Now the problem I can not find out what exactly you need for the install I'd like to keep all the factory stuff like door chimes and keep my remote start, etc. I do not want to tap into any wires there has to be some sort of a kit with a harness or something but I can't find what I am looking for anywhere if you guys could help me out that would be awesome a link where to buy everything I need for this would be sweet.

If someone could help me out that would be awesome!

Edit: I would also like to keep my steering wheel controls as well

Doing this now, I ran to my local Best Buy and they had an app on their computer that told them exactly what I needed. It was a GMOS-4 for the interface and then the radio and what not. They can help you out if they are anything like my best buy.

Alright cool, but I don't have onstar or a bose system in my car is that harness still the correct one? The main thing to me is I would like to keep everything as close to factory as I can like door chimes, steering wheel controls, etc.

Oh. I had to get the GMOS-4 because I have monsoon and onstar. I would run to Best Buy and ask one of the install techs. They havent steered me wrong on any of my cars. You will likely need a wiring harness, an ant. adapter, a steering wheel interface, and an install kit. What stero did you get? I got a Kenwood DDX419

For the steering wheel controls, you'll need a steering wheel interface, which will be based on the brand of stereo you buy.
    Pacaudio.com sells these.

For the radio itself to keep door chimes, you will need a $120 or more wiring harness. Its like a regular wiring harness, but it has a box with it. Pac sells these, but best buy, crutchfield and sonic electronix all sell them as well. The pac part number you need is C2R-GM24 (without bose or onstar)

Thanks Spade!! One last question for you guys can I just use any antenna or do I have to buy a certain one?

I also checked out Crutchfield and it came up saying that nothing on there would fit my car. That is why I came here I wasn't having any luck anywhere else thanks guys.

Simbah when you click the wiring harness one they all say does not fit. Unless I am looking in the wrong area on the site I cannot find everything I need for installing a new radio.

If you add a radio to your cart a window will pop up with the harness you need. You can always remove items from your cart.

hmm seeing as how I have a degree in electronic engineering I am wondering if I can't just build that lil box that keeps the door chimes and sell it for cheaper? What say ye?

No you cant build the box as it integrates into the data bus system in the car. Go to BestKits and check what your vehicle needs.

I am no EE but I will be going to school for EE, CE and CS and when I opened the box that I got It had a lot more than just a few resistors and diodes. It looked like a all out pcb... could be wrong but thats what it looked like

EDIT: it is possible with the right equipment, just would be hard.

I haven't seen the inside of one....my door chimes didn't work when i got the car it had an aftermarket radio in it....didn't buy the extra harness either just made a jumper from the acc wire on the radio harness to the red wire on the extra harness in the dash beside the radio harness and everything works fine minus door chimes....key chime works
