    Default Lowbeam headlights not working

    Hi All

I am having a problem with my headlights that I could use some help with. Currently my headlights don't turn on either with the automatic system nor using the switch. The daytime running lights work, the parking lights come on, and the high beams work. But, the low beams won't come on. For some time now the low beams have intermittently have switched on and off at night when on the auto switch. Now they have stopped working all together. I have checked all of the fuses and all are good. I have also switched out the ignition switch wiring harness and that didn't fix the problem. I believe that the issue is the light switch wiring harness. Has any seen this before? Any thoughts on if the switch wiring harness could be the problem or any other thoughts as to what the issue could be?

Thanks in advance for any help.
    Brad

See if you have voltage at the light, buy a book with a wiring diagram for your car and find where you loose voltage.

Thanks. I will check the voltage this weekend and go from there. Do you happen to know if there any wiring diagrams available on-line? I have a 2001 SE. I appreciate the help.

    Brad,
Did you ever solve your low beam problem? Mine just went out yesterday. Checked all the fuses and replaced the bulbs. Was it a wiring or switch problem?

I did solve my problem... It turned out to be a wiring issue. The wire for the lowbeam inside the steering wheel broke away from the connecter plate it is attached to. I cleaned up the wire and plate and then soldered the wire to the plate. It has been working ever since. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

    Thanks, Brad.

While driving long distance today, tried to activate my cruise control. It didn't work, so I'm assuming that my control switch is bad and will have a technician look it over.

I had the same problem with no low beams on my '03 GT. Saw your post, then took a look at the wiring in the steering column. Sure enough, the low beam wire was broken right at the connector of the steering column multifunction switch. Repaired the connection, now they work fine.

When I had my problem I also had power at the headlights and but not at the switch... if that makes sense to you. Meaning that my daytime running lights and high beams worked, but no low beams. My problem was a broken wire at the connector plate in the steering column. When you tore apart your steering column did you locate the connector plate for the wires? If not, check there. If so, did you wiggle each wire and check connectivity? That is where I would start. I hope this helps.

    Good luck solving your problem.
