Default Looking Into Doing a Manual Swap

So as most of you know i have a 97 Grand Prix GTP. I am currently building an engine for the car, i plan on keeping the car and dont mind throwing a little extra cash into it to make it a 5 speed or 6 speed. I think the Getrag 284 would be my best bet as I hear the 282's cant hold much HP. Im looking to get some info on doing the swap and what parts i would need, so i know Kuntzie and hitman will be a great help to me as well as anyone else working on a swap/already done one. I know ill need a Camaro flywheel machined down, and way more parts.

    Engie: 3800 Series II
    -GenV
    -S2IC
    -XP Cam
    -42.5# Injectors
    -Pacesetter Headers
    -N* TB
-Diamond Forged Racing Pistons and Connecting Rods
    -P&P Heads with #"X" springs
    -Etc...

How much HP will a Getrag 284 handle? What cars can i find them in? I did do some research on them, Id rather spend the time and money on a Manual swap then on a built automatic trans. How about the G6 Trans, will that handle decent power? What Trans upgrades may I have to do for the trans to handle the power?

I know I'm leaving out alot of info and questions
but i plan on keeping this thread updated as i go, if i go this route.

Are you doing the High Compression GT pistons?

Also alot seem to be using the G6 F40 trans these days due to parts availability.

i think they are the high compression pistons my friend has them in an engine he isnt using. ill use what ever trans 6 speed or 5 speed, i wouldnt even mind doing a 4 speed if that was an option haha. i would just rather take the time to build a manual then to dump the money into a built auto. i would like to buy kuntzies 5 speed but dont have the cash right now and he is far from me

    I PM'd you back.

It's not really that hard of a swap. The finding of the parts is the hardest, imo. I'm looking for spare parts already just in case, and I'm coming up empty handed

Only complaints i've heard about the F40 is that the flywheels is stupid loud. There is a local guy that did this swap and machined alot of parts himself. If he's on here his username is Curado.
