On the coolant elbow seals. Why would you tell him to order more? There is a set in the LIM gasket kit, and the elbows he ordered will come with them on the elbows. That's two sets. If you guys are blaming the plastic elbow as the failure in the elbow area, then why buy more o-rings when he'll have two sets? Silliness in my mind.

You asked why the red and blue seals in the LIM gasket kit. The answer is in this link, basically it's old casting of block vs new.

Throttle body, it's a gasket and you should get it. Also get a can of TB cleaner to clean it while you have it off. This will make your car run better and have better throttle response etc.

If Dave feels 60% throttle is 100%, what does he tell his wife.

There's like ten different types of tstat. And there's two different types of the coolant hose seal. Like you click it and it has two options one is 4 dollars the other is 60 cents. But yeah I'm gonna get a 180 t stat but idk which type I need.

edit: alright I figured one of the sets should have seals lol. But I still need info on all these tstats. Thanks for the info.

and my list I posted a screenshot of plus a t stat should be it then right? And I'm getting 180 cause I will probably run a 3.4 in the future.

You need two different size o rings for the coolant elbows.

If you never plan on taking this apart again, you dont need to order more.

But if you plan on modding, might as well. You'll probably have it apart again.

My plastic elbows were just about failed after just two months of operation. I've installed plenty of these before with zero issue, yet this last set decided to deform. Probably part of the bad batch. Now there are Al elbows in there.

How are there ten different "types" of thermostats? I'd believe brands, but not types.

I listed them already. And I'm only doing headers and 3.4 pulley and I don't know if they need to come off for those.

I'd just get the cheapest 180* thermostat but that's me. It's super easy to change if it ever fails.

Noob here, so please forgive my comments/questions below, but it is eventually related to this thread...

My low oil warning popped up about 2 weeks ago and i was just below the cross-hatch marks, so I added half a quart. Went away for a week and the low oil was still there when I came home, figured it may be a sensor going haywire. So I check it this morning, and now it is only halfway on the dip-stick to the cross-hatching. My oil is going somewhere quickly and it isnt the ground. Did a few Google searches then checked my coolant, and wow. My radiator cap looks like the one on this thread...

HELP! THere is oil in my coolant - Pontiac Forums

The coolant resivoir looks like a cross between muddy water and some curdled choclate milk. A little more google later, and now I am guessing that my LIM gasket needs replacing...badly. Is this a good assumption? Any other suggestions?

Second question... If I do need to replace my LIM gasket, can you let me know what the final part list was? I got a little lost around the end of the second page.

Lastly... My wife will not know any better when I go out and buy the parts, so is there anything worth upgrading performance wise while I am replacing the gasket?

2004 Grand Prix GTP, 62k(ish) miles. Thanks for any help!

The only performance upgrade you could do while your in there is porting and polishing the lim

    Why?

    Port to what end?

    Stock heads, no point.

Well that's the only thing performance wise you can do during a lim job. It probably doesn't do anything but can't hurt either.
