Plug-N-Play Ignition Bypass Mod (Based on BackInBlack’s original Ignition Bypass) Section 1. Assembly of Plug-N-Play module 1. Obtain the following Parts: 2. Crimp one P/N 12084590 female connector on one end of both red and orange wires 3. Cut the red wire so that it is the same length as the orange wire (should have at least 6 inches of red wire to cut off, more will give you more room for splicing. 4. Take the red wire, and at about the middle, use your wire strippers to cut the insulation on the wire (ONLY the insulation) and repeat a few inches away. Use a sharp knife to cut a slice from one of your cuts to the other, remove the insulation. Split the strands of wire in half. Take the piece of red wire that you cut off in step 3, strip the end down generously, enough to put between the split strands of wire and wrap around itself tightly. Insert this stripped end between the split strands from your main wire. Wrap the stripped end back around itself. Twist the main wire to tighten the split strands around the inserted wire. You may want to use a bit of solder to hold it together. Cover with electrical wire. (I covered with liquid electrical tape first) You will end up with a splice looking something like this: 5. Cut the orange wire into two pieces, in half or further away from the end with the female terminal. 6. Crimp one universal female spade terminal on either side of the cut you made in step 5. (I used right angle style to save space, but any style will do) 7. Crimp one P/N 12066493 male terminal on the last end of the orange wire. 8. Crimp one P/N 12066493 male terminal on the end of the main red wire. (NOT the piece that was spliced in) 9. Insert both male terminal ends into male connector body P/N 12129938, and secure with terminal position lock P/N 12129940 10. Crimp one universal female spade terminal on the spliced end of the red wire. 11. Connect orange wire with female terminal from Step 2 to pin 30 of the 30A SPDT relay. Connect orange wire with male terminal from Step 7 to pin 85. Connect spliced red wire to pin 87. Crimp female terminal on black ground wire, connect to pin 86. 12. The finished module: Section 2. Installation of Plug-N-Play module 1. Disconnect Battery 2. Disconnect ignition harness connector at base of steering wheel (nut driver/socket wrench required) and remove two thin connectors for turn signal multi-function switch. Connector will look like this: 3. Use a thin screwdriver to pop off the terminal position locks from both ends 4. Use a thin flat object to release the tang on the female connectors in postion C6 (Orange) and D2 (Red) –A straightened bobby pin works well, if you have one. (Insert on the “top” side of the connector as viewed in the picture) 5. Insert the removed wires/terminals into P/N 12129939, and secure with terminal position lock P/N 12129940. (MATCH COLOR/POSITION WITH MALE CONNECTOR FROM STEP 9 OF SECTION 1!) 6. Connect the female connector assembly from Step 5 above with male connector assembly from Step 9 of Section 1. 7. Insert the two loose female ends of the bypass module (as pictured in Step 12 of Section 1), matching the color/position of the wires removed in Step 4. 8. Reassemble ignition harness connector, including thin connectors for turn signal multi-function switch. 9. Secure relay under dash to keep wires from hanging. 10. Cut ground wire to length, crimp on ring terminal and secure to good ground under dash. 11. Reconnect battery, test operation of vehicle ignition and all accessories. |
