Default I800 and other SQ heads... check out this new unit.

As much as I'd like to try a p99rs, the damn thing is expensive lol (1k+ retail for those that don't know).... this new unit looks awesome. I'm not even a fan of SQ, but I'm going to have to get my hands on one of these. That's exciting

I had a hard time with my other 880prs. I like the 9887 and 117 better. I wonder how this one would turn out?

I've never played with the P800/880, or anything with that much processing power honestly. It'll be fun messing around with it all. I guess I can attempt this newfangle "SQL" stuff to a certain extent.

Anybody notice that everybody is skimping on the size of the display these days?

I noticed the same thing, but this head does look promising. I was starting to think the days of SQ decks were over.

I think the companies assumed that the market was going away and the few that remained had no problem shelling out a few grand for head unit + dsp. Now they're moving from those units back to single din + dsp. Kinda funny if you ask me because the circuit designs haven't changed they're just choosing whether or not to design the pcb layouts. The hard part is figuring out what it's gonna look like

Several years back I was doing some repairs on a couple alpine heads for friends and I happened to have their top 3 head units at the time together on the same bench. As I had them apart I started inspecting the boards and noticed that they were all the same, it just came down to what was left un-populated on the boards. The lower end had several components left off the board, and as you moved up in model number the boards became more populated (less components left off). Wish i could remember what the model numbers were. That was probably 10 years ago.
