Would there be anything wrong with just removing your hood liner? and or do you know of any roll on hood liner type things? I ask because mine looks like crap and one corner is even falling apart

Mines still there, haven't really given it thought..
I know that dynamat makes a hoodliner:

2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT : Stock and slow and SOLD.
2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Special Edition
take it off, just keeps the engine bay hotter..
the hood gets hotter in the sun than it does from the motor, your paint will be fine.
niether of my cars has one, doesnt affect paint at all
The only thing I have found that it does is keeps some of the engine noise quieter
The only reason it's there it's to act as a fire suppressant.........But if your engine catches on fire your pretty much screwed anyway, so it's pointless. Go ahead and take it off, and you should have some flawless paint under it.

wow i spelled liner linar in the title lol
Mine keeps my fuel rail from chaffing and fraying.
Sounds like quality craftsman ship doesnt it.
i want to take mine off..but i guess GM got lazy and didnt paint underneath the liner and just sprayed around it so it looks like crap
yea GM is lazy, thats why i resprayed the underside so its nice and uniform, and no one can spell around here lol
Yeah GM actually does that to save money.
Less paint = less money.
I've had mine off, in 105degrees plus Florida weather, with no problems at all.
If the lack of paint bugs you, just spray it.
mine wasnt painted. i didnt care.
If you don't have a hood liner...you hear your exhaust more.

If your car is a show car, get it paint matched to the rest of the hood, if not, who cares what it looks like? ITS THE UNDERSIDE OF YOUR HOOD!
If you go around poping your hood anywhere besides a GP meet, you're probably a ricer anyway.

there is no point. we've all seen it before.
I'd be interested to see what some of your setups look like, its not something I'd want to see every time I saw you. Once would be good.
