    Default go time friday

so i just installed my new shorter dogbones with poly mounts and stiffened up my motor mounts, cleaned my intake manifold out with powerfoam (you guys should really look into it, its f in amazing ****) and im going to the track for the first time friday night and im curious as to what my ET is gonna be... ill be happy with a 13.7 or lower.... my first time i know im gonna bomb the launch, and get like 15, but im runninng an 05 gtp, 3.6 mps which according to my scanner says im running between 8lbs of boost when its about 85 degrees out, to 12 lbs when its like 60 outside, today i ran 9.4 lbs and its 84 outside with 36 percent humidity, my fuel trims seem about dead on, my timing is around 15 at WOT, i have a K and N cold air ( i know it is lame but amazon black friday it was like 165) freshly cleaned filter, freshly cleaned maf, i run amsoil signature series motor oil, and have since brand new (bought it from my amsoil dealer, take off the valve covers **** looks brand new) zzp headers, 3 inchstainless dp witha 3 inch electric cutout, new autolite 103's gapped at either .055 or .05 i cant remember exactly, i have a ZZP box tune ( saving my pennies for a dyno tune after my cam) running some pretty sticky good year assurance triple tred's, it should be around 75ish outside with around 40 percent humidity, my elevation is about 750 feet.... just curious as to any guess on what i'll run, i might be forgetting some little mods here and there, ive decided to hold off on power adding mods to re do my entire suspension and everything, what good is 600 wheel horse if you cant put that **** to the ground or stop the thing or you go around a corner and keep going straight into a tree?.... ive killed tons of stuff on the street and i dont want to embarrass myself on the track. heres a short list of **** ive killed

    about 25 civics
    3 cobalt ss'
    a duramax chipped
    a 7.3 powerstroke chipped
my roomates sierra with a 350
every gay ass mustang ive come across, except this shelby mustang who wouldnt go
    a turbo jetta vr6
    2 srt 4's
    a v'6 eclipse
    tiburon gt
and i cant remember anything else, i got beat by a vette and a viper, but no shame in that,

so if you guys have any tips tricks, hints, suggestions they would be greatly appreicated... i didnt run my car last time and save a bunch of 15 second mustangs get their asses kicked, but there was only 1 pointac there and i figured we need to represent a little bit more at our local track... haha granted it was an 1982 firebird that looked like it should have been at a buy here pay here car lot for about 900 bucks, and it ran 9.46 if i remember correctly... thanks guys

hotter? reasoning? i thought colder was better for KR, and i only went 3 ranges colder than stock.... im sorta new to tuning cars, i can build 2 strokes like a mother****er, i have a pedal start moped from the 70's that i built the motor on, 70 mph on 70 cc's one speed no tranny... revving to 16k rpms... and i was also a jet engine mechanic, but ive got alot to learn as far as tuning and ****, anyone can throw parts at something but ive realized its all about how it all comes together that makes the difference...

3 ranges colder is to much you only need to drop one heat range. The hotter the spark the better.

but the heat rating isnt how hot the spark is? its the optimum operationg temperature for the spark plug?

hes right, the hotter plug the better. you always want to run the hottest plug possible.
im thinking 14.2-14.4 due to elevation. maybe better if you can get a good 60'.

but wont a hotter plug make my timing more like 18 degrees? im running around 15 degrees now.... lower timing equals more power yes? what are you guys saying? 104's or what?

the more timing the better. the more timing the higher chance of knock. i would get 104's.

so wouldnt 15 be a good timing to be running? also, i dont have a scangauge, working on a way to make my odb2 dongle read enhanged gm paramters, but, if i was having KR, i would see the timing advance values increase right? or am i going about this wrong.... 18 degrees is 18 degrees before TDC, and 20 deg is 20 deg before TDC correct? im used to old school, carb and a distributor and stuff, mechanical advance and such haha

15 isnt *bad* by any means, 16-20 is the best, you could probably be running more, but since you have no way of scanning we have no way of telling.
timing tables arent dependant upon KR. KR can happen at 12* timing, it can happen at 13* timing. the higher timing you are running, the higher chance of you having KR. even if you have 1* of KR on a 3.6 that wont be bad. however, if you are running 20* of timing on a stock 3.8 pulley, you will probably be making about the same power as low timing 3.6 pulley.

oh haha, i gotcha, i was totally thinking about it the wrong way, i was thinking that 15 is 15 degrees before TDC, not 15 degrees closer to top dead center than stock, imma go out to the country and play around a little bit, re scan and get a more accutrate reading, i didnt log my data, still figuring out my app, so maybe its better than that? if not i'll swap out to 104's and see how that works, my gap at .055 is good right? i know gapping makes a f ton of difference in a small engine.... my 74 cc motor dynoed at 10.4 horses with a .043 gap, and 14 horse at .05 gap... was told it wasnt AS curical for a 4 stroke engine.... also without a way to actually scan for KR, i cant tell if can drop a pulley? like if im running 20 deg with my fuel trims good and everything... without having a tech 2 or something for a KR reading i cant pulley drop? i dont mean to sound like a retard, but there is so much info on the internet to sort through, self teaching yourself **** like this is more work than anything else ive tried to learn on my own haha

That gap is fine. you have an obd2 to bluetooth adapter? What program are you using to try and scan for kr?

I'd say you'd maybe run 14.5. Unless I missed it where you said your running a smaller pulley.

15* timing is Stock timing, You could gain a few hp by increasing it 1-3 with a tuner.

Running different plugs has nothing to do with timing.

I'd run 605's with your mod level.

This doesnt make much sense to me either, you can scan and log data, but cant read KR???????????????

If your using a Torque app its just about worthless when it comes to reading real important data like fuel trims and KR and such.

i dont have torque dash commander and rev but rev doesent work right, and i went out and played around a bit more, and i was paying attention to SOLEY my timing, and when im like crusing at 40ish im at +43 haha, but when im WOT it jumps around at 16-18.... so i guess not too bad, i'll try some 104's tomorrow and see if i get that magical 20 number haha, and yeah im running a 3.6 pulley... which puts out 8-12 lbs of boost on average... and man do those dogbones and poly upper mounts make a huge different in just the overall feeling of the car, it just feels so tight and when i shift its wayyy smoother, it just seems like... bam its right there, although i did hear that awesome ticking noise from my headers now, so i gotta go retighten my DP and stuff, cuz that tick usually means a leak, since i got the scanner app, its really quite interesting to monitor all the **** your car does etc, and btw, its a stock gtp supposed to run 14.7? also my brother has one of those helmet cam thingys cuz my nephew races go karts, so if i can borrow it, i'll have some vids....

    Series 3 makes no difference.

Only thing you have over a sII engine is better oil passage casting and a more "efficient" supercharger

Changing your spark plugs will have no effect on your timing. It's all controlled in your pcm.
