What are the benefits of doing AN lines? Your getting rid of the ****ty GM disconnects. There a PITA to replace the o-rings on and over the years they can become a potential fire hazzard. I honestly believe that most of the fires have been fuel related and most likely caused by these quick connects mainly. My install is based on my 1999 GTP w/ PRJ Gen2 fuel rails. I did both the Supply and Return lines. This can be applied to any fuel rail solutions included stock rails w/ the proper fittings of course. As for brand of fittings, use whatever brand you want. Earls, XRP, Aeroquip, etc. I bought most of my stuff locally, Summit and Jegs will hook you up too. What I used... (X1) Earl's -6 AN Male to 3/8 in. Tube fitting PN: 165006ERL The hose ends have to be measured, cut, and installed. They can be a PITA, but the results are worth it. When cutting the braided line. Wrap masking tape around the area to be cut and use a cutoff wheel on a die grinder. Its fast and makes for a clean cut. The tape prevents the braiding from getting nasty looking. Once you make your cut, remove the tape. When installing the fittings use lube inside the hose and remember the hose is left handed threads. This link helped me for the install hose fitting install. Aeroquip Stainless Braided Hose and Fittings Assembly Information , I did everything using hand tools, I didn't even need a vice although that might of made things a little easier. What I learned? The first time I did the install I used... -XRP -6 AN Tube Nut + Sleeve (x1) Instead of... (X1) Earl's -6 AN Male to 3/8 in. Tube fitting PN: 165006ERL I bought the XRP stuff locally at a speed shop. They told me the tube nut + sleeve setup would work for me with flaring of course. I was told it would handle HIGH psi FI. I tried 3 different flare ends, everything leaked almost immediately! Why? Because in our OEM tubing theres a seam line on the inside of the tubing. I tried and tried smoothing it out to work and it just wouldn't. Not worth your time or effort. What ever you do, DO NOT USE A TUBE NUT, SLEEVE, AND FLARED ENDs FOR YOUR SETUP. It is bull****, period. It sucks and its a PITA that doesn't work good at all. Don't waste your time like I did. The Earls tube fittings are way better and a lot less work. All you do is cut the tube straight, file the burrs (if any) off the end of the time, slide on the suppled nut, then the crush washer thing, and the other AN nut and tighten down. Thats it! Done. No flairing, no bull****. Here are a couple pics of the fittings... I hope this helps someone out here. Special thanks to Vinnie for helping me get the correct fittings to make everything work correctly. Pictures of my setup coming very soon. I'll post them here when I have them. | ||
