Does the car have power in reverse like it is holding or do you have to wait until the noise goes away before it feels like a solid engagement? Many of the older transmissions had a problem with the style of lip seal on the reverse apply piston, which was a short type seal and would cause no reverse or slow engagement and was addressed by using a long style lip seal. If the trans is low on fluid you will hear a buzzing type noise when putting the trans in a gear that has higher line pressure such as reverse or manual 1.

Trannyman:
Yess, the noise that accures has to go away before it engage in reverse.
It dosent have any delays, I mean when you move the gear selector to reverse its supposed to take like under a second to feel the engagement..

On my car it take under a second to engage but it make a more like a rattle noise or something.

Now I got it how to make it explane the noise, its sound like if you have lifted up the car and putted in drive. The wheels start to move and WITHOUT putting your foot to the brake you bang the selector in to PARK.
It makes a rattle/sawing noise!!! I havent done this ever one a car but I was riding in our citroen with my girlfriend behind the wheel and she wasent paying attention and did this... The citroen working like before (Thank god ) but I just wanted to explane the noise..

When it engage it goes wheel without slippage or something.

I did try to change the upper holderarms that holds the engine in position beacuse these were totally kaputt.. The noise is still there..

Best regards

Acke
