Default scangauge II vs. aeroforce interceptor

i want a guage that can read and clear codes and monitor KR. both the scanguage and the interceptor can do these things.

i have a 3 gauge a-pillar pod that i want to fill up. i have an aem wideband for one spot. my other options would be to get a dual aeroforce setup to take up the other two holes, or to get a scanguage II, mount it on the steering wheel, and get an oil pressure and a fuel pressure guage. if i get either, im goign to have to buy sending units for soem of the stuff anyhow (oil press, fuel press).

the interceptor has a lot more parameters, but for the dual setup im looking at $400+. i can pick up a scanguageII on ebay for 160 shipped..the aeroforce will also flash at me if any parameters i set drop or increase too much (oil pressure and KR, mainly)

what i want to see most in a gauge is a display of
- oil pressure
- fuel pressure
- boost
- KR
- IAT
- voltage
- ablitly to read/clear DTC's

the scanguage cannot give me oil or fuel pressure, which is why if i got it id have to get separate gauges for that.

so really its ~ $400 for the dual aeroforce, plus more for sending units

or

$160 for the scanguage II, plus ~ $100 for an eletrical oil pressure gauge and ~ $200 for an elctrical fuel pressure gauge

either way, im looking at about $500 when its all said and done.

can anyone shine some light on this for me?

Scan Gauge doesn't scan most peremeters. Korey on GOClub just bought one and it won't even read KR.

Are you doing a wideband?

I decided to get the Interceptor, Innovate LC-1 wideband and the oil pressure sender accessory for the interceptor. Then a rail mounted fuel pressure gauge and a boost gauge. Thats 2 gauges in a HUD pod so there arent a ton of gauges to take your eyes off the road. If you're watching a WB I don't see why you need to look at FP also. If there is a fuel issue the WB will show it. The FP gauge is more for troubleshooting and can be put on a braided hose and taped to the windshield like Merc does if you need to watch it while driving.

Less is more IMO when it takes your eyes off the road. Im my setup I can watch 3 parameters from 2 gauges and they are right next to the HUD.

Another vote here for the interceptor gauges. Probably one of the best investments I've made for the car, and Pat's customer service is top notch. They are well worth the money, and they actually fit someplace compared to the shape of the scangauge.

Aeroforce only reads oil pressure properly on GM V8s. It gives some crazy reading on the 3800. Doesn't do fuel pressure either (but does have analog inputs). Get a single Aeroforce and your oil pressure gauge. Done.

I don't know if this is the latest model, but Aeroforce thread CGP This concerns me as I've been waiting almost two weeks for one.

What more is there? The oil pressure gives you some crazy 6k+ PSI reading. They say on their site the oil pressure value is only for some GM V8 vehicles. And it doesn't read fuel pressure.

Since you got the oil pressure sender accessory, yours should work. But it can't use the stock oil pressure sender over the OBD2 bus. Not sure why since my stock oil pressure gauge works just fine.

I didn't read the whole thread but the aeroforce guage pulls its power from the obd2, but if its like mine, a 2001, the obd2 in mine does not supply power. All you have to do is wire it up on a seperate accessory power and your fine. That thread was probably either from a bad guage, which they fix for you, or that the dual guages can't run off of one obd2 power.

The data rate on the aeroforce is pretty damn good, I set it to mpg and everytime I let off it's instant, it's really reversed some of my driving styles, some places I wouldn't expect getting 10mpg, so I figure out what gear and rpms are best.

Not only does it display multiple readings from your car's computer, you can pull diagnostic codes, calculate 1/4 times/speeds fairly accurate, set led lights to come on at a certain perameter and value, (hit 10+ boost = red led), view engine misfires for each cylinder, run a scan cycle instead of just displaying 2 parameters, a/d inputs and tons of other stuff that I don't use.
