hvac control

This is a discussion on hvac control within the Tech Lounge forums, part of the W Body Tech category; does anybody know if the digital hvac control is compatible with the one with dials...as in I want to know ...

Default hvac control

does anybody know if the digital hvac control is compatible with the one with dials...as in I want to know if I can switch them and have it just be plug and play or if I have to do something else...thanks

I don't know for sure. But I would imagine there is more to change than just the controls. I would imagine the digital controls have a computer of some sort that controls temp. And the dial controls work on vacuum. So I would think there is more to change than just the knobs.....But Ed Morad would know for sure. I would shoot him an email or give him a call.

seems like someone did the change, and you have to change the whole system just about (it has been a couple years since I saw it though)

I was going to do the swap in my 05, but after researching didn't have the time or the extra car, because it was a seriously in depth project with just little payoff.

you would have to swap the COMPLETE system, including wire harness, sensors, duct actuators, and even swap or have the bcm reprogrammed.
