Thanks so much for your help.
you may be able to get to the wire harness from under the dash, but if not, i think perhaps the dash cover has to come off? i cant tell from the service manual i have, it's not clear on the passenger side airbag, but it looks like the screws that hold it in place go in from the top.

---- i just did some quick ebay searching, thogh and at least from what i can tell, the original harness connected to the airbag module is a pigtail (wires permanently connected on one end) with what looks to be almost a 1ft pigtail... so you may not need to remove the airbag to install the the new add in harness, but not sure.

I'll have to go out in the car tomorrow and try to identify all the different things you have talked about. I would like to do it right now, but it is dark.

I'll be back tomorrow with more questions. Thanks again for your help.

the airbag connectors and assocated wiring are all BRIGHT yellow... and the connector bodies themselves should be unique shaped as well.

That is good to know. Should help me in my search for connectors tomorrow.

If anyone else has something to say, please, feel free.

I went out and looked, and couldn't find any of the things I was looking for. I took the glovebox out, and did see a single yellow wire, but I doubt that is it.

And for the wires by the steering column, is there a cover that I have to remove?

Edit: Maybe I'll buy a Haynes manual. Would this be able to help me in finding the wires?

the cover that they're talking about removing is the plastic panel directly below the steering column... which will also require removal of the "carpeted" cover that goes under the rest of the dash.. should come out pretty easily. as for the passenger side, the wire your looking for is indeed yellow, but it's likely got a few conductors inside that yellow jacket, so it wont be skinny. if you get your hands on the new harness, you'll be able to see what the connector looks like. the connector is also yellow.

The special order part finally arrived today, but now the damn light isn't even on anymore. I'll just save it in case the light comes on again.
