Default CV Shaft

I recommend going to Oreilly's Auto Parts for the CV shaft if you are wanting to go with a stock replacement. For the Grand Prix they are about $80.00 to $90.00 depending on which side. This is for New, not Remanufactured CV shafts made by A1 Cardone. There is a 5.00 core when you buy the new shafts. Remans by A1 Cardone are about $60.00, but there is a $50.00 core charge.

Part Numbers

Left Side (drivers) .................................................. ..66-1255

Right Side (Passengers) non-supercharged................66-1250

Right Side (passengers) supercharged.......................66-1256

Just curious but why are S/C pass. one's more expensive? I know the nose and what not are on that side but I didn't think there was much of a difference in the GT and GTP's

it's probably due to popularity-- only the gtp/regal gs use that part.

I would have to say that Toasty is probably right. The reason it's different is due to the Heavy Duty Differential. So, (and I am just throwing numbers out) if 30% of cars use the GTP shaft, and 70% use the GT shaft, the cost for manufacturing the shaft will be split among each group, and since there are more GT's out there than GTP's, its cheaper for the GT.

I am still at odds as to why there is such as big spread...You have to wonder that the OEM though pricey must be superior and should last more than one year...Just a pain to have to replace them under a year even if O'Reillys gives you a new one under warantee...Just my two bits...50-90 is better than 550 from the dealer.

You can get them at NAPA also, $59.00 no core, usually one day to get them if not in stock. But I got mine at Auto Zone for $69.00 + core, but I took my old ones in when I got mine, limited lifetime warranty!

I bought my axles from wbodystore.com:
Halfshafts (HD & Non-HD transmission)

My opinion is that these axles are an upgrade to any OEM replacements, and still only $75 for either side with no core to worry about.
