OK here is my problem I fixed it. The connector that snaps on the switch. The female ends in the connector that the male ends on the switch slide in to are spread out. TO FIX. I used a small nail and pushed them together. So now the male ends that slide in to the female are tight...

MAKE SENSE>
try this..

Try pushing the window button that IS NOT working and move teh connector around that mounts to the underside... Thats how i figured it out

Anyone know of a writeup for the newer 2004-2008 models? I have a 2005 that needs a new passenger side window switch. I have the $13 switch but haven't a clue how to get at the old switch other than rip the interior door panel off...

If they are the same as the 97-03 then you just need to pry on the lower part of the switch panel, not the switch itself.

I tried prying the switch plate out but near as I can tell, they are definately different. It acts like it needs to be removed from the back side since I don't see any clips - only a flange around the entire switch plate that keeps it from popping out.

I've been hoping that someone has pulled their interior door panel off to upgrade the door speakers and maybe they noticed. Maybe I will post something in the electronics section.

WOW! What an amazing "how to". You did a fantastic job. This seems to be a common problem with this car. I've seen the same problem in several other forums, but this is the most detailed I've ever seen.

I've had both front windows crap out on me but I actually had to replace the entire regulator motor. I heard the motor running but the window wouldn't roll back up or down. It came crashing down quite well, just couldn't get it up so i used a wooden wedge until I could afford the entire regulator motor part, just under $100. For the mechanic to replace that entire unit was $300. Thank GOD I got the insurance company to fix it after some guy sideswiped me *giggle*.

Anyway, I'm going to keep this filed in case it happens again.

Again, fabulous instructions

Many thanks for this excellent write-up! Front window failed today, went on this forum to look at fixes (as I've used them before), and about 30 mins after taking the switch out of the door and cleaning the black contacts, I've got a working window again! Easy to follow instructions could'nt be easier; well done.

Saved a fortune rather than shipping one over from the States!!!!

Personally, I just levered mine straight up and they popped off. Looks like a previous owner had already had them off, as some were slightly damaged but not enough to cause them to fail! They also popped back on easy, too!!!! Just take your time and you shouldn't have any problems.
