Yeah, this is a good one to have here. I, fortunately, ran across this mod within weeks of getting my GP. Unfortunately there is a slight amount of paint damage from vibration and rubbing more than anything, but I got some rubber spacers that have worked flawlessly.

yea i think everyone needs to do this. under the spoiler is really a good place for rust to start... and before u know it, u need a new deck lid.

I just get alot of information from the sites and figured i'd tried and give back somehow. I know many folks know this mod, but some may not, or some may have forgotten about it... so its kinda a reminder for those.

Im glad you posted it because I was one that had forgotten about it and I agree, we have new owners coming in that will need to know about this.

yea i got mine like 8 years after build, and it wasnt really that bad... but i have seen pics of worse damage. mine has always been a GA car, so im sure in other areas of the world, rust and paint damage is probably really bad...

Toilet tank bolt washers work GREAT for this. Apply silicone GREASE to each side and it helps with the waterproofing without damaging anything or becoming permanent. Also, be sure the low spots of the wing have the 1/8" holes drilled in them to drain the water that inevitably finds it way inside.

I used these:

Image: ACE TRADING BHDW 4 01-3028-505 "ACE" WALL DOOR STOP (pack of 5)

I just used a razorblade to carefully cut the raised portion leaving only a large white, self adhesive, washer.

Hard to see here. Im not at home for a couple weeks but I'll try to find a better pic:

It's not that big after you cut it down:

Not sure why the pic isn't working. Just click on it from the above link. It's dark, I know.

Partial shot:
