Yes you can, however you need a power tuner or a HP tuner. The setting is in the PCM (the reason I moved your post to this section).

The speed limiter is there because of the speed rating on the tires that were on the car from the factory....If your tires had a speed rating of S, then your limiter was set to 118mph.

with a Power tuner or a HP Tuner, you can change that value to 255, but make sure you have tires to go that fast, or a blowout at those speeds could be nasty.

speed rating is over rated you can get an s and run 150 if you wanted cause i doubt you will do 150 for longer than 5 min. when the test them lets say they test an s rated tire they run that tire at 118 for like 5 hours or something like that. if you do 118 for 5 hours YOU DA MAN(or woman)

Very true, and I am not sure of the exact test they use, however I can tell you that there is a big safety factor built in. If you have S rated tires and doing 90 and have a blowout, you can try to go after the tire manf. If your doing 120 at the time of the blowout, you dont have a prayer

With that said, if you decide to go over the speed rating, your on your own...some tires can take it some cant.
