Default pulling steering wheel

I need to change my wiper/directional arm, because the wiper sprayer no longer sprays (yes I already replaced the pump) and while I was there I was going to switch to a plain wheel (no wheel controls) so I just wanted to know what tools I need, and the process of, because I'm aware that I need to deactivate the airbags, without tripping them, and I was told I need some special tool to pull the steering wheel not just a steering wheel puller.

I cant go another winter without washer fluid......

To pull the wheel, you can rent a tool from O'Reillys or Auto Zone to do the job.

Trick is, to install the puller, and get it snug NOT tight on the wheel, and then hit the steering wheel from behind with a rubber maillot.

Problem with some of these steering wheels is, they get too attached to the steering shaft, and when you try to "just pull them off" with a puller, you can crack and brake the main steering wheel center, or worse...damage the steering shaft.

I helped a guy pull the wheel off his Regal. He had a steering wheel puller, but pointed out that the holes that the tool are supposed to thread into aren't actually threaded. He did say that there is a special tool for pulling the wheel, but has had success with the typical puller if he works the wheels while gently putting tension on it with the puller. The wheel did come off that day after a few attempts.

...line up the splines as straight as you can, push the steering wheel on as far as you can, start the nut on the steering shaft, and then tighten the nut, which will pull/push (how ever you look at it) the steering wheel onto the steering shaft.
