Default Painting brake calipers.

I was thinking of painting my brake calipers. Most in likely it would be a weekend job.

Heres what I was thinking of doing:

*Since I dont have the tools to take off the calipers and put them back on correctly, I want to see if I can simply (or maby not so simply) tape up the areas where I do not want paint to hit, and leave only the caliper open.

*Before I cover them I will sand them down to a nice smooth surface.

Now would calipers need to be primed? I have a feeling im missing a few things in the process. I know there not going to be a "Hell Yeah!" glossy lookin caliper, but a nice flat black would be nice.

I would use a black caliper paint. After painting I would let em dry over night.

... Sound ok?

I don't have the link, but just search caliper, Egleone6 and duplicolor and you will see a link on how to do it. I just did my calipers earlier this week. It was easy. If you can find some one with jack stands, you can do it rather easy.

I was told to not get that caliper cleaner on the rubber parts, as it may deteriorate it. I feel I could have cleaned it more, but I applied a coat, (the first coat looks weird) and set a box fan on low and let that sit and dry for about 20 minutes. I put three coats on each caliper. You will have enough to do about 3 cars with the paint that they give you. IF you use DupliColor.

Then you have to let it sit for about 24 hours. Be careful if you take the tire off, that you don't hit the caliper.

It is easy, you will get a better job by taking the wheel off. Trust me.

ur better off to take the caliper off for you'll get a wayyyy better paint job out of it. I think ebay as some Decal stickers also....u can get them in colors with writing such as (GT,GTP, etc...) im not sure if they sell without writing but they'd more than likely can help u...that way would be alot easier than a piss poor painting
