Default FBody question

i have an 02 Gt with torque thrux wheels and would the fbody brakes fit. I know you need a 12 inch rotor, but what kind of bracket do you need? I am probably just going to keep the stock calipers on it, and what kind of pads do i need to buy?

^if your goin' to keep your calipers, u can just upgrade your rotors to 12"! don't know exactlly what car that has them? (impala maybe?) but, newer gm cars w/ a 5x115 bolt pattern will work just fine!

if your looking to upgrade your calipers, u need F body (camaro, firebird, trans am) calipers and brackets! i believe, not sure, but 93-02's should all be the same!

04 and up monte, impala, gp have the caliper brackets you need. The stock calipers bolt to the new brackets and you need 12" rotors obviously.

So the f body calipers just provide more braking force than stock with 12" rotors?

Technically no. The only advantage is that 1. You have an aluminum caliper, 5 pounds lighter. 2. You have more pad area, the f body have significant more surface area, more stopping power.

ALL 98-02 f body calipers are dual piston.

So,

04 and up monte, impala, gp caliper brackets +
98-02 calipers + pads +
12" 5x115 rotors = good brakes?

Nope.

If you have ****ty pads, you'll still have ****ty brakes.

Invest in some better pads before even touching any of that.

Stainless steel brakelines also help with the brake feel greatly.

Change your brake fluid once per year as well and enjoy.

Your stopping power is also limited by your availible traction, namely your tires.

I thought the V6 cars were only single piston?

Much better than stock, I'm hoping to have this setup one day soon.

Brake feel suffers unless you replace the rubber brake line with some stainless steel lines.

Also invest in some quality pads and tires and you shouldn't have any complaints.

Bull****. Plus, after the stainless brake lines are on the car for a bit they get stiff, and the first time you do any work you end up springing a leak.

mine have been on for i know at least 3 1/2 years... lines have made it through 3 trans swaps, several brake jobs, and both CV axles replaced. i dont have any leaks.
