I dont think so, I think the issue with the stock fogs melting was due to using higher wattage halogen bulbs. From everything I have read, the Xenon HID bulbs run cooler. Might want to wait until someone more knowledgeable chimes in though, as I still run the 55 watt halogens in mine.

At least they coughed up you were getting teles. Perhaps they have received enough emails written in different ways that the english/chinese translator finally got it right....yea, right.

The message I am trying to share is the perception that there is a warranty or recourse if something is not as you like. I have had issues and know two others who have learned that the deal is one way, buy them and you get what they ship you, period. Wrong color? too bad. Dead out of the box, too bad. ballast creates too much RFI? too bad.

Of coarse, the good is they are bright and white. Some of us have put much work into getting them to function correctly and now that they are close, they work well.

Low beam only is really dependent on where you run. I'm on dirt roads or out in no mans land, high beams are king. You will also need them for inspection.

Which kit do you have? I would really love to have Hi beams, but dont want something that wont work. A little modification does not scare me, but I dont want to have to tear two headlights apart to make one that will work.

Default Re: HID Kits

I have the VVME 9007-3 telescopic. Kinda difficult to take the four pager and condense but here it goes....

There are two modifications required to get a beam.

1. Arc centering. The light source placement is critical to achieve a beam out of the headlamp module. BnB did the homework and determined that the HID light source (arc for HID, filament in a halogen) is off by approx 0.10in. This adjustment is easily made since the telescopic lamps are a two piece assm to mount in the headlamp module. BnB showed that a little dremel work to alter the twist and lock position combine with a spacer will get the lamp to the optimal position. In my case,I found a small tie wrap is about the right width and allows the lamp assm locking detent to still function.

2. Bulb movement. This is more difficult as the 9007/9004 lamps have the filaments aligned vertical. The telescopic HID moves horizontal. The original work has been to reduce the horizontal motion and introduce a tilt action. As the bulb moves horizontally, the beam diffuses into a flood. You need the tilt action for beam elevation. The lamp assm has some tilt action be default due to the loose tolerances of the assm. The horizontal motion can be limited by the addition of non-magnetic spacers internal to the lamp motion solenoid to reduce motion from 0.250 to approx 0.170 range. You will need to check the unmodified motion as I'm told there are two version from the factory, 0.25 and 0.15 travel. Have not heard of the 0.15 travel ...than again, have not seen any one else provide data on lamp motion /placement either.. other than BnB....

For the perfectionist, the beams are optimized by altering the motion of the lamps closer to tilt action only. This can be accomplished with additional dremel work to increase the width of the guide channels in the bulb mount, addition of a motion stop one side of the assm (force the motion angular). when this is done, the lamp also requires 180 rotation in it's mounting flange.

This explanation combined with BnB's post should provide you with sufficient information to generate beams, low and high. It may sound complicated but the first two are not. more bark than bite.

This typed, please consider that you are modifying the lamp assm and you have just written off any chance of that warranty / return, even with the $$ return policy. Respect the lamp. do not touch, oil from the skin will likely have the same effects touching a halogen bulb. I saved and always have the lamp in it's foam when out of the headlamp module.

May the force be with you.

i wont post up my reply from the other HID threads, but i have a possible answer on tilting HID's... the seller may be able to do group buy pricing if it works out, just as an FYI ---and no its not VVME -- VVME did actually specify in an email (after some repeated asking) that yes, they were the retracting type

Waiting to see if more people want in on this. I will post up all the info on Wednesday for those interested. Based on all the info coming out about the lights I would have to say Xenon sets are good, but I would wait to find out some more info on the Bi-Xenon.
