Default Alternator Rewires

4GA rewire cable, they're a little longer than what zzp sells but the ones i have are better quality, they're crimped then sealed with stiff shrink tube then covered in split wrap and taped, better quality also (my zzp alt rewire actually came out of the crimped end and sparked on the blower snout) Hows 10 bucks shipped each sound? Thats about 5 plus shipping lower than zzp

PAYPAL: amurphy@smig.net

as of right now i have a few left, grab them while they're hot

Comparing the ZZP rewire 'wire' (shown with the red cable) next to the wire i am selling (and the actual cable crimpping mine have vs regular wire crimp)

Also i polish both ends, and bend one end to a 90 degree to allow you to put the red cap back on the fuse relay center post

What kind of wire are you using ?

Is that nylon loom ?

Also, just a question what kind of press are you using ? (I'm in the wiring biz myself)

One end connects under the hot wire nut on the alternator and the other end goes under the + nut at the fuse box. Simple to do and does make sense in theory why it would be beneficial. I have one but don't think the big list of advantages mentioned a couple of posts above is accurate.

I would say it is pretty close. The stock wire runs from the alternator down the firewall to the drivers side of the engine bay to the front of the engine bay, back over to the passenger side of the engine bay and to the fuse block. It is also considerably smaller than what his re-wire is.

Now, while not the Grand Prix, my last vehicle I picked up dang near 2mpg by installing larger alternator, starting and ground wiring. It was the only change I made at the time as well. The voltage drop across such a high current, long run wire can be significant. As well, the ignition coils and fuel injectors need a certain voltage to saturate and fire, I believe its like 70% of the devices rated voltage. So with something like the ignition coils a 1 volt increase on the primary side can be a rather large increase on the secondary side.

So I can only say I have personally seen the effects of better wiring in the charging and starting circuits. I cant document any gains with the GP because at the time I did the wiring in it I did a few other things as well.
