Default Tweeter Installation

Has anyone had luck installing tweeters in the original location just at the corner of the door...My 1998 GTP does not seem to have enough room to accommodate a replacement...I am looking at installing some 5.25 infinity kappa component systems...Any insights would be appreciated.

You should always have the tweeters within 6" from the woofer anyway so just surface them on the door panel if you can. That's how I always did it anyway.

I believe the best position for the average listener is in the middle of the factory mid grille, right in front of the midrange speaker. While this setup is debatable, I find it easy to do and has really good imaging.

While it is well known w/ people that it "has" to be w/in 6 inches of the midrange, this is very debatable. Especially since people who have won multiple sq competitions has tweeters in the a pillars and/or top of dash with the sound bouncing off the windshield.

I have mine in the stock location, I played with the mounting, and that was the only way to get the image up above my lap (my wife and I are both fairly short so our legs block the sound down low)

i had cut a hole in the door panel to put my tweeters in because i had the same problem you did and it came out to be very nice looking and when i was looking online at the 08 grand prix and i saw the component system it has in it with the tweeters right next to front speaker that is what mine looks like

stock location is the worst spot. The sound waves bounce off dash to windsheild and dash ect.

Best is if tweeter is aimed at your ear

I have had them in just about every position you can think of over the years and my honda prlude and these are prolly the best yet. But I also use time alignment so that helps too. 100_0715.jpg

i agree ... A pillar is a great place for tweeters... easy to run wire and easy to mount
