Default mounting depth on doors

I was curious what was involved in getting a set of 6.5's in the doors. Im thinking about putting some 6w3v3 woofers in the door. They have 4 3/16 mounting depth and I would need at least another inch or so to make some kind of fiberglass enclosure.

I have no interest in making any modification to the door or door panel itself, I was thinking of building a baffle and fiberglassing a pocket with it. I dont know how long I am keeping this car due to the rust on the rear strut towers. So I need it to be unmodified so I can return the stock components when I trade it in. Which sucks cause I really like this car, Its my second one. Stupid rust.

Well an eas way I think of doing it may be to use the foam baffles that Crutchfield sells and use that as a mold. As for the inch of clearance, I used 1-1/8th" piece and made spacer. Worked out really well. I'll try to dig up a pic if you want.

make a spacer from mdf, mine is about an inch thick, and works great with my soundstream comps

pics would be awesome. I figured I would have to make some spacers, my biggest worry was being able to fit such a large speaker in the door (depth wise) and be able to make a fiberglass enclosure on top of that.

I don't care for putting enclosures in the doors, ones I have heard always buzz a little, just seal the door, and use it as the enclosure (dynamat will seal it)

problem is the speakers are not open air and require only .15 cf of space so its not gonna be a huge enclosure.

Kicker has some open air woofers but I just dont feel like I would get what I am looking for with open air.

honestly unless you are going for a deeper bass, you probably won't hear a ton of difference if the whole door is sealed compared to a small enclosure, and if you want deep bass, kicker separates aren't really the right product
