Default Head Unit Steering Wheel Controls

So, I just bought a set of component alpine 6.5"s and a nice pioneer head unit. Anyways I just tested to see if the head unit worked, since I am connecting everything with amps ne ways. head unit works fine but the volume control and other controls on the steering wheel do not work. I noticed next to the wiring harness was another clip with I think 3 wires in it not hooked up to anything. Are these the wires that I need for the steering wheel controls to work. If so how do wire them? Thanks in advance.

Naw you need this to enable your steering wheel controls if you want to retain their functionality.
