I recently bought a 2004 Grand Prix, and was definitely excited about the working cd player, which my grand cherokee has lacked for a very long time. BUT it tells me to check the disc when I insert a burned disc. It plays store-bought ones just fine. What file type is able to be played by the 2004 Grand Prix GT cd player.. and since I'm thinking about buying a 6-disc out of a GTP of the same year, that one too?

| Depends, alot of OEM players wont play burnt discs. Make sure its a standard audio format, not mp3.

| I think he meant burn it as an audio disk vs a mp3 or wma format. This means you can fit 20 songs tops on a cd vs the 120+ songs you can fit on there in the raw digital format. Standard CD format is CDA i believe. Meaning CD Audio track. Most manufactures cd players don't read MP3 or WMA unless it says it right on the player.

Mp3 or other compressed data forms are NOT RAW FORMAT!. If the question is whether or not your CD player will play a burned audio disc...Be sure you've set the recording to audio disc vs. data disc. Next, make sure the option to burn your CD is set to the slowest speed...4x maybe? This will ensure a good consistent burn across the cd platter.

Thanks for the tutorial... Anyways, I just converted to PCM (wav format) and once again it did not work. I'll keep tryin some more formats but i just had a thought. I've been burning to CDRW... not CDR... do you think that could be it?

I emailed a guy at a Delco (or whoever makes the players, i forget) repair place... I'm NOT buying a stock 6disc changer if i can't figure out how to make it work... I've got too much music to re-buy it to listen to it while i drive. But the EDGE (my favorite radio station) has decided to paly less awesome stuff lately, so I NEED my hardcore driving tunes, such as hollywood undead, three days grace, and a few others. I jsut need them. But i dont ahve real discs. It makes me sad. lol. AND if i don't get the 6-disc, im not getting the steering wheel with radio controls. But if the discs can be figured out, ill be getting a wheel with controls on them, and a 6disc changer for 200 bucks. So i hope it works lol, i really like the look of the stock head unit.

![]() Try using Nero or Roxio and like said before burn it as a normal AUDIO CD not a Data Disk. Quit trying different formats they will not work on a stock CD Player. Might try this as well, CDBurnerXP is a free cd burning program available here. CDBurnerXP: Introduction and News I've used it before in a pinch or on customers pc's that do not want to shell out the cash for a more advanced burning program. Also if you have Windows Media Player on your pc it will burn cd's if you put the songs you want on Burn List and create a playlist. If you have or Download Windows Media Player 11 it even has a "Burn" Icon on the Bar at the top of the Application to do this with. PM me if you need more help and i will help you as i can. Good Luck!

OK.. so ive got this program. Does it matter if I use MP3 format songs to put on this audio CD? Will it do its own thing? BTW i know how to burn using WMP and i have a few programs that convert form one format to another.

Burning CD's is pretty easy. Just make sure when you put the cd back in your cd drive in your comp, in the drive the tracks should show up as CDA files. When it tells you how many minutes can fit on there, it shouldn't be more than 80 or 90.

Still nothing. I checked, and it does have CDA shortcut format. Still says check disc. Compared it to my new Sick Puppies CD. Both are CDFS and otherwise identical, but one wont play.

then your player is ancient and won't play burnt discs. This happened with household CD players... most modern ones will do it, but even my player from 95 still plays them ![]() Leave it to the car guys to use cheap stuff.

HA! I found a stack of burnt disks in the trunk of my car... they are CDR... something. I'll check again shortly but they WORK so its just a matter of incorrect discs slash format! i know it can be done! woohoo! Oh, and the music on them totally sucks. Hardcore.
