The landlord from the property next to mine is the proud recipient of a nuisance letter.

I'm expecting a little bit of morbid amusement out of this for a variety of reasons, mostly the fact that it was me and two other property owners that retained an attorney to send it.

To give you an idea of the infractions outlined (some are criminal acts and some are just simply acts against the homeowners assocation), here is a few on the list because of his renters:

~failure to maintain property in accordance with City and homeowners code,
~keeping a drug house,
~litter,
~parking on other properties (including lawns and blocking other driveways),
~verbal harassment of other owners and their guests.

That's the SHORT list.

The last straw was this morning one of the other owners was harassed leaving his house going to his car. He went back at lunch so Salvation Army could pick up some furniture and clothing, and he was informed that the tenant was harassing the Salvation Army guys, too. Apparently, the lady was telling him how much she hated her neighbor and wanted him dead. Lovely, yes?

Anyone ever had to send one of these before? If so, what kind of backlash can we expect from it? We are betting the property owner really has no idea what goes on at the property. So the theory is, if we enlighten him, he can actually evict if for nothing else but the drugs. Here in the great Commonwealth of Virginia, if we really wanted to, the homeowners association could actually report the house and the owner could be charged with maintaining a drug house and/or nuisance property. It might be our next step is to let the POA handle it. But I think the letter from the attorney is pretty interesting.

P.S. It has been an overload of stupid people for me this week, but when I heard about the Salvation Army incident, that was the icing on the cake.
