Default Ode to new car shop guys

So, as most of you know, I took my 9 year old in today to get some new Falkens.

I go to the same place every time for all my suspension/tire work. I have the same guy for the past 9 years do everything that needs doing. And there's a new guy at the counter. This is the context of each and every conversation I have ever had with the new guys at the counter of any shop I roll into:

Dude: Hey that's a pretty nice car. What is it?
Me: A little Pontiac.
Dude: Yeah, that's a nice Grand Am.
Me: Yeah, it's a nice Grand Am.
Dude: How old is it?
Me: It's a 99.
Dude: Are you getting a new one?
Me: No. I can barely handle 4 cylinders, let alone the new ones that are out.
Dude: You ever race it?
Me: Are you kidding? Girls don't belong at the track. This car has never seen a dragstrip. Or snow.
Dude: Yours is kinda' loud. You might be having a fuel issue.
Me: Well, yeah, it's pretty loud for a stock grand am and all. I think the exhaust is about to go. I should probably get it checked out, huh?
Dude: Yeah, well we can do that for you.
Me: Yeah. *As I glance over at Bill, who is the only one there I let near the car and is trying so hard not to fall over laughing* Maybe Bill here can check the blinker fluid for me, too, and top it off. I'll see you guys at 5ish, when you are through with my baby.

Which of course at this point Bill can no longer contain himself, and he is roaring while the new guy just looks at him scratching his head wondering .

Just thought I'd share. I mean come on. I go in knowing exactly what I want and how much I am spending. As if the House of Kolor paint wasn't a giveaway. You'd think they'd have a clue. New guys. Geesh.

I wish I could have been there to witness that convo, although I would've probably been laughing so hard before the end of the convo I might have had to be taken to the hospital.

I agree, that would have made for some great video.

Agreed it would have been great to be there and witness the conversation. Don't feel bad though, I have had people comment on my GrandAm as well. One day hopefully they will learn that the GrandAm in nowhere close to a Grand Prix. I should know I have owned both.

It's not just the grand am thing that gets me. It's the fact that they don't know anything about the car. And I mean ANYTHING. So I will play along like I don't know anything either. And it happens everywhere. I used to think they bring new guys in when I have an appointment just for my amusement.
