Default Figures when I have to drive it...

So my Grand Prix is at the shop on Friday afternoon when it died on me. Thus, I'm "stuck" driving my Impala for a few days. Not a big deal, I was going to drive it this past weekend a bit anyway. But one trip I did NOT want to drive it on was a drip down to Kings Dominion amusement park, about 60 miles away.

Not 3-4 miles am I on the highway, flying rock hits my windshield, cracks it. I just had the windshield replaced LAST year after I was in an accident. Even worse, the car is due for its Virginia safety inspection this month. I'm just hoping the crack isn't enough to fail me. I'll probably still get the windshield replaced in the next few months, but just hope the crack isn't big enough to fail me.

Sucks to hear that man. If the crack is spidering out, you can tale a small drill bit and drill little indentions at the end of each line. This will keep them from getting any bigger. Especially if their not big enough to fail you so you can keep them from spreading. Man I hated the VA inspections when I was there.

Same thing happened to me a few years ago with my old car. I ended up calling the insurance company the next day and putting comprehensive coverage on my plan, which protects against vandalism and broken windshields. The coverage was only $6 more a month. A month after that I called the insurance company and told them my windshield was cracked, they came 3 days later and replaced it for 50$.

I was in three accidents last year, two my fault. So I'm not keen on calling them and putting in a claim. I may still call them just to find out my options.

Accident #1 - Rearended by a truck who was rearended by a semi. Not my fault
Accident #2 - Not really an accident as so much bad driving. Ran over a traffic cone, knocked the oil filter loose on my F150. Oil pressure light went crazy. When I had it towed to a body shop, they did an oil change, and fixed my dented front bumper from a previous run in with highway debris. It was only $150 more than my deductible; wish I knew tha beforehand and I would have just paid it myself so insurance didn't have it.
Accident #3 - Had a seizure and blacked out, played pingpong with my Impala between jersey walls. I was diagnosed with whiplash from accident #1. This could have been due to that, so I'm considering suing the semi driver.

Every time I drive home (5.5 hours) I get a new rock chip on the windshield. Some big, some small. I'm just waiting until I get married and take the trip home less before I replace it.
